MECHANICAL ENGINEER -WWTP

Previous Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) experience is mandatory for this role.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join our growing team, where the successful candidate will work with a group of engineers involved in the design, commissioning & qualification, start-up and project management of various processes, systems, and facilities. The work will require working out of the client’s facilitiesin Raleigh, North Carolina.

This role is for a Mechanical Engineer who will provide field engineering, quality control and commissioning support for the mechanical and piping scope of an industrial capital project at a wastewater treatment facility. Working closely with the Construction Manager (CM), the successful candidate will oversee the installation of pumps, blowers, piping systems and process equipment, witness testing and support commissioning. The ideal candidate should possess leadership skills to lead/mentor intermediate/junior engineers.

This role will act as an owner representative Mechanical Engineer, to review the AE firm and vendor design deliverables on behalf of the owner, to oversee installation, construction and startup.

Responsibilities

• Review mechanical and piping design documents and participate in design reviews.
• Verify materials and equipment against project specifications.
• Coordinate day-to-day work with the Construction Manager (CM) and provide site coordination with contractors and other disciplines.
• Perform daily field inspections of mechanical and piping installations.
• Verify installation of mechanical equipment, including pumps, blowers and piping systems.
• Witness testing (e.g., pressure/hydrostatic tests, equipment run tests) and support commissioning activities.
• Track CSA schedule activities, RFIs and submittals.
• Carry out quality control activities to confirm work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and applicable codes.
• Provide documentation support, including test records, turnover packages and as-built information.
• Prepare progress reports and provide project status updates during project meetings.

Qualifications

• University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of mechanical/piping experience on industrial or pharmaceutical projects.
• Experience with Wastewater Treatment Plants is required.
• Hands-on experience with pumps, blowers, piping systems and equipment installation.
• Experience with equipment installation verification, testing and commissioning.
• Solid understanding of construction drawings, specifications, RFI and submittal processes.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the CM, contractors and client stakeholders.
