SUMMARY
Drives truck with capacity of more than 3 tons, to transport materials to and from specified destinations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Drives truck to destination.
- Prepares receipts for load picked up.
- Collects payment for goods delivered and for delivery charges.
- Collects necessary paperwork such as certificates of conformance (Certs.), material receivers, and bills of lading.
- Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
- Maintains daily trip log, according to company policy.
- Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
- Loads and unloads truck.
- Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.
- Performs repairs such as installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs.
- Works in shop when necessary
- Inspects materials for damage & when necessary dimensions.
- Position blocks and straps around items to secure cargo during transit.
