About the Role
Mfinite Consulting is seeking reliable, experienced Cooks to support meal preparation at the New Hampshire Veterans Home (NHVH). In this role, you will prepare and serve meals for veteran residents in accordance with established menus, standardized recipes, and dietary requirementsincluding the specialized needs of residents in a life-enhanced dementia care unit.
This is an opportunity to use your culinary skills in a setting where the work you do directly contributes to residents' comfort, nutrition, and quality of life.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and cook meals according to established menus, standardized recipes, and therapeutic/dietary requirements.
- Follow portion-control, food-quality, presentation, and meal-service standards.
- Properly handle, store, label, and rotate food and ingredients.
- Follow all applicable food-safety and sanitation requirements.
- Safely operate commercial kitchen equipment and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Monitor food preparation and notify the Kitchen Supervisor of ingredient, equipment, supply, or scheduling concerns.
- Assist with inventory management, receiving, storage, and rotation of food and supplies as needed.
- Work cooperatively with kitchen and facility staff to support timely and efficient meal service.
- Follow NHVH policies, procedures, and resident-care requirements.
What You'll Need
- Previous cooking or food-service experience preferred.
- Ability to read and follow recipes, menus, and written instructions.
- Knowledge of basic food preparation, sanitation, and safe food-handling practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced institutional or commercial kitchen environment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push food-service carts.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical kitchen duties throughout the shift.
- ServSafe certification preferred, but not required unless otherwise specified by NHVH.
- Dependability, teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and resident service.
Screening & Compliance Requirements
Because this position supports the New Hampshire Veterans Home, all candidates must successfully complete required screening and compliance requirements before beginning work, which may include:
- Criminal background screening, including a National Criminal Records Check or NH Release of Criminal Record Authorization.
- BAAS State Registry check.
- Office of Inspector General (OIG) Exclusion List screening at hire, with monthly re-screening thereafter.
- Annual Conviction Disclosure Attestation.
- Fitness-for-duty attestation and physical and/or drug testing, where applicable.
- Review and acknowledgment of NHVH policies and procedures at hire and annually thereafter.
Former NHVH employees: Former NHVH employees are not eligible for placement without prior approval from NHVH.
Employment and placement are contingent upon successful completion of all applicable NHVH screening and compliance requirements.
