Medical Assistant - MA

Medical Assistant (MA)– Correctional FacilityWe are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant (MA) to provide clinical support in a fast-paced healthcare setting. The Medical Assistant will work closely with Registered Nurses, physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners to support high-quality patient care and efficient clinic operations.

Schedule:
Monday–Friday
6:00 AM–2:30 PM
40 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Obtain and accurately document patient vital signs and promptly report abnormal findings to the Registered Nurse.

• Room patients for providers and assist with managing patient flow to support efficient clinic operations.

• Perform accurate and timely data entry within the electronic healthcare record (EHR) related to patient care, procedures, and interventions.

• Administer vaccines and other intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SubQ) medications as permitted within scope of practice.

• Perform point-of-care specimen collection and testing, including phlebotomy.

• Assist physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners with examinations, procedures, and treatments as directed.

• Prepare examination rooms, equipment, and instruments for patient visits and minor procedures.

• Assist with and perform approved clinical procedures, including:

  • Cleansing superficial lacerations and wounds

  • Dressing changes

  • Ear lavages

  • Electrocardiograms (EKGs/ECGs)

  • Peak flow testing

  • Other procedures as ordered by the provider and within scope of practice

• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all patient care activities and interventions in the electronic healthcare record.

• Follow established clinical procedures, infection-control standards, and patient safety protocols.

• Collaborate effectively with nursing staff and providers to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate care.

Required Qualifications

• Previous Medical Assistant experience in a clinical or outpatient healthcare setting.

• Experience obtaining vital signs and recognizing and reporting abnormal findings.

• Proficiency with electronic healthcare records and clinical documentation.

• Experience with patient rooming and clinic workflow.

• Experience administering vaccines and IM/SubQ medications.

• Phlebotomy and point-of-care specimen collection experience.

• Experience assisting providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments.

• Ability to perform common Medical Assistant clinical procedures within applicable scope of practice.

• Strong communication, organizational, and patient service skills.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
