Worklab is a software engineering consultancy that builds custom web applications, online marketplaces, AI-powered solutions, and scalable cloud infrastructure for growing businesses. We work closely with our clients to design, build, and maintain production software.

We're looking for a Full Stack Web Development Associate to work directly with our founder across software development, solution design, testing, troubleshooting, and engineering operations.

This is a hands-on technical role for someone with experience building modern web applications who also enjoys solving problems beyond simply writing code. You'll contribute directly to client applications while helping turn business requirements into technical solutions, investigate issues, test features, and keep engineering projects moving forward.

This is not an entry-level training position, but you don't need to be a senior engineer. We're looking for someone with a solid full-stack foundation who can independently handle well-defined development tasks and wants to grow into greater technical responsibility.

What You'll Do

Full Stack Web Development

• Build and modify features in web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React, and PostgreSQL
• Work across frontend, backend, APIs, and databases
• Handle development tasks including new features, bug fixes, UI improvements, and application enhancements
• Build and integrate REST APIs and third-party services
• Write SQL queries and work directly with application data
• Investigate and troubleshoot issues across existing applications
• Read, understand, and modify existing codebases
• Use Git and GitHub for source control, pull requests, and code reviews
• Assist with deployments, application configuration, and cloud infrastructure
• Research APIs, libraries, platforms, and technical approaches for new features

AI-Assisted Development

AI development tools are an important part of our engineering workflow. You'll use tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, and GitHub Copilot to accelerate development, research, debugging, and documentation.

We're looking for someone who knows how to use AI effectively while still understanding, testing, and validating the code and solutions being produced.

Solution Design, Testing & Engineering Operations

• Translate business and client requirements into technical solutions
• Help design software features, workflows, integrations, and implementation approaches
• Write technical specifications, documentation, user stories, and acceptance criteria
• Break larger features into actionable engineering tasks
• Perform feature testing, regression testing, and release validation
• Identify, reproduce, document, and resolve software defects
• Coordinate with developers, designers, QA engineers, and clients
• Help manage development from requirements through production release
• Track engineering priorities, blockers, and outstanding technical issues

Additional Responsibilities

Worklab is a small consultancy, so you'll also have opportunities to contribute outside traditional development work. This may include organizing technical documentation, preparing client materials, assisting with recruiting, improving internal processes, and helping the founder keep projects moving efficiently.

The primary focus of this position, however, is software development and technical problem solving.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is technically capable, highly organized, curious, and comfortable taking ownership.

You should be able to take a well-defined feature or technical problem and work through itfrom understanding the requirements and investigating the existing application to implementing, testing, and documenting the solution.

Experience building and deploying real web applicationsprofessionally, freelance, through substantial personal projects, or another environmentis strongly preferred.

Experience with Next.js, Supabase, Stripe, marketplaces/e-commerce, AWS, automated testing, or Tailwind CSS is a plus.

Work Arrangement

This is a hybrid position based near Glendale, California.

We plan to work closely together during the initial onboarding period:

• Weeks 1–2: Primarily in person for onboarding, training, and collaboration
• Following month: Approximately 3 days per week in person
• Long term: Increasing hybrid flexibility based on performance, responsibilities, and ability to work independently

We're looking for someone who can become a trusted technical extension of the founder and take on increasing ownership over time.
