Job Title: Junior Electrical Designer / Electrical Engineer

Job Description

You will assist with drafting, redlining, and reporting, while gaining hands-on experience in creating electrical plans, specifications, and calculations. Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support to electrical engineers on commercial, industrial, municipal, and higher education projects.
• Assist in designing, analyzing, and developing electrical systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
• Collaborate with lead electrical engineers to create electrical plans, specifications, and calculations.
• Focus on redlining, drafting, and reporting to ensure accurate and complete design documentation.
• Produce high-quality contract drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Conduct occasional field visits to record existing conditions, assess project progress, and verify compliance with design specifications.
• Support projects involving municipal work, land bank renovations of abandoned buildings, state projects, and higher education facilities.
• Assist in the preparation of technical reports and engineering documentation.
• Participate in project meetings and contribute insights and recommendations to support effective design solutions.
• Stay current with industry trends and advancements in electrical engineering power design to enhance project quality and innovation.
• Work on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with project stakeholders.
• Work independently with general guidance from a project manager and deliver expected results within established timelines.

Essential Skills

• 0 to 3 years of experience in electrical engineering or electrical design; recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and applicable electrical codes.
• Proficiency in the latest version of AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with Revit for drafting and design of electrical systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft products, including standard office and productivity tools.
• Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while managing priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and perform well under pressure.
• Ability to work independently with general instructions and guidance from a project manager.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Demonstrated eagerness to learn and grow within the field of electrical engineering.
• Solid understanding of electrical design principles, schematics, and drafting practices.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Any relevant internships in electrical engineering, electrical design, or related fields are a plus.
• Experience with drafting and design of electrical schematics and layouts.
• Exposure to commercial, industrial, municipal, or higher education projects is beneficial.
• Demonstrated ambition, initiative, and a strong desire for professional development.
• Familiarity with electrical design tools beyond AutoCAD and Revit is an advantage.
• Interest in staying current with industry trends and advancements in electrical engineering power design.
• Ability to contribute constructively in project meetings and offer thoughtful design recommendations.

This position follows a hybrid work structure, typically with two days working from home and three days working in the Rochester office or traveling to project sites as needed. You will work with a broad range of public and private sector clients on municipal, state, land bank renovation, and higher education projects. This is a Permanent position based out of Buffalo, NY.

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $80000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
