Communications Coordinator
Part-Time | Hourly | $18–$20 per Hour
Reports to: Operations Manager
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Create engaging content for newsletters, email campaigns, press releases, social media, website updates, and promotional materials.
- Manage and maintain the organization’s social media presence and content calendar.
- Promote classes, exhibitions, fundraising initiatives, special events, and community programs.
- Coordinate communications with local media and community partners.
- Maintain consistent branding, messaging, and organizational voice across all platforms.
- Assist with the creation of graphics and promotional materials using Canva and/or Adobe.
- Update and maintain website content using Shopify platform.
- Track communications, media coverage, and digital engagement.
- Collaborate with staff to identify promotional opportunities and communication needs.
- Support fundraising and donor communications as needed.
- Perform additional communications and marketing duties that support the organization’s mission and goals.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Experience with social media management and digital communications.
- Working knowledge of Canva and/or Adobe design programs.
- Experience with website content management systems; basic HTML knowledge is beneficial.
- Experience with email marketing platforms and digital newsletters preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a nonprofit, creative, and community-focused environment.
- A passion for the arts and the mission of the organization is highly desirable.
The Visual Arts Center serves Charlotte County, and beyond with three major galleries, 6 classrooms, jewelry, glass, pottery & technology studios, an arts library, Gift Gallery, Art & Supply Store and VAC logo items. Our 12,000 square foot facility provides the best art classes, instructors and exhibit opportunities for the community. Our courses are designed for all ages and skill levels and we offer classes and workshops in a variety of arts media throughout the year.
