Job Description

The Assembler performs hands-on production work in dedicated assembly cells or stations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. In this role, you assemble metal valves and fixture parts by hand, use a variety of tools and production machines, and help ensure products meet quality and performance standards. You work on your feet throughout a 10-hour shift, follow detailed assembly procedures, and contribute to meeting specific production goals each day.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on assembly of metal valves and fixture parts in a production cell or station, consistently working at a fast pace to meet established production goals each shift.
• Use hand tools, power tools, torque tools, impact tools, and air-powered tools to assemble parts and subassemblies accurately and safely.
• Read and follow assembly drawings, blueprints, and written assembly instructions when required by the station or cell.
• Operate production machines that assemble or install specific components of valves and fixtures after receiving proper training.
• Perform packing, labeling, and tagging of assembled parts to prepare them for shipment.
• Paint parts and ensure proper coating where required by the production process.
• Conduct visual quality inspections on assembled parts to verify workmanship, identify defects, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Complete production reports and paperwork accurately to document output, quality checks, and any issues encountered during the shift.
• Perform assembly testing, including pressure testing of valve components using PSI measurements, and record results as required.
• Clean parts using chemical solutions, cloths, air hoses, and other approved methods to ensure components are ready for assembly or shipment.
• Follow repetitive assembly procedures and standardized work instructions while maintaining strong attention to detail.
• Keep pace with higher-speed production requirements and adjust work methods to maintain efficiency and accuracy.
• Cross-train on new machines, tools, and production assembly areas to support flexibility and coverage across different stations.
• Adhere to all safety policies, including proper use of PPE, safe handling of tools and chemical solutions, and compliance with facility guidelines.
• Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality to support consistent production schedules and team reliability.
• Communicate effectively with trainers, leads, and supervisors, follow directions, and ask questions to clarify assembly procedures and production expectations.
• Work collaboratively with other employees in individual or team-based assembly cells, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.

Essential Skills

• 1–2+ years of current or recent assembly experience in a production or manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with hand tools and power tools confidently and safely.
• Experience working in production or manufacturing settings with an understanding of fast-paced, goal-driven operations.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, torque tools, impact tools, air-powered tools, and related equipment for assembling parts and subassemblies.
• Comfort working on a production line and following repetitive assembly procedures with consistent quality.
• Ability to stand on your feet for 10+ hours each shift with no sitting allowed.
• Ability to lift up to 45 pounds by hand repeatedly throughout a 10-hour shift.
• Strong manual dexterity, including coordinated hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects of varying sizes.
• Ability to follow detailed directions from trainers, leads, and supervisors and learn new assembly procedures and production goals.
• Strong attention to detail when assembling, inspecting, and testing parts to ensure quality standards are met.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality, with a proven track record of maintaining great attendance.
• Ability to speak fluent English; bilingual skills are a plus.
• Willingness and ability to cross-train on new machines and in new production assembly areas.
• Comfort working at higher production speeds while maintaining accuracy and safety.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience using calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, and other precision measurement tools is beneficial.
• Experience in mechanical, construction, roofing, carpentry, or other hands-on trades is considered a strong plus.
• Experience in home remodeling, building decks, fences, sheds, or porches, or assembling furniture using hand and power tools is highly valued.
• Blueprint reading experience is a strong plus and can support advancement to more complex assembly stations.
• Familiarity with assembly drawings, assembly testing, and assembly production processes is advantageous.
• Mechanical inclination and prior work as a mechanic or in other mechanically focused roles can be a strong fit for this position.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in team-based assembly cells.
• Interest in long-term growth within a manufacturing environment and willingness to learn new skills through cross-training.

Work Environment

This role is based in a very clean, well-lit, and climate-controlled manufacturing facility. You work in assembly stations or cells, either independently or as part of a team, surrounded by other production employees. The environment is fast paced, and you are expected to work quickly and efficiently to meet consistent production goals. You must be comfortable standing on your feet for 10-hour shifts with no sitting allowed. The typical schedules are: First shift from 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM Monday through Thursday, with required hours from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM every Friday and Saturday; and second shift from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM Monday through Thursday, with required hours from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM every Friday and Saturday. Working six days each week, including every Friday and Saturday, is part of the normal schedule, and overtime is considered standard. You use a variety of tools and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, torque tools, impact tools, air-powered tools, measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers, and production machinery designed for assembling and installing valve and fixture components. Dress code requires PPE such as safety glasses, ear protection, and steel-toe footwear. You should wear steel-toe shoes or boots, a work shirt (such as a T-shirt), and jeans or work pants; shorts, leggings, sweatpants, and joggers are not allowed.E

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elon, NC.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
