Job Description

The Warehouse and Production Supervisor leads daily warehouse and manufacturing operations in a fast-paced environment, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining accurate inventory, efficient material flow, and on-time shipments. This role oversees team performance, enforces safety and quality standards, monitors key operational metrics, and provides hands-on leadership, coaching, and training to employees across both warehouse and production functions. The supervisor works closely with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency, support customer needs, and promote continuous improvement throughout the operation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily warehouse or production operations depending on role to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and on-time performance.
• Lead, coach, and develop employees while managing performance, training, and accountability.
• Coordinate inventory, shipping, receiving, material flow, and production schedules to meet customer and operational goals.
• Monitor key performance metrics, identify process improvements, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Enforce OSHA, safety, quality, GMP, and company policies while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
• Collaborate with warehouse, production, logistics, maintenance, and quality teams to optimize workflow and support plant operations.
• Manage labor utilization and staffing levels to align resources with production and distribution demands.
• Conduct daily shift meetings to communicate priorities, performance expectations, and safety initiatives.

Essential Skills

• 3–5 years of warehouse supervision experience, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
• 3–5 years of production supervision experience, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Proven experience leading and supervising warehouse operations on a shift basis.
• Strong experience in warehouse management, logistics, inventory control, and shipping and receiving.
• Demonstrated ability to manage second-shift operations and coordinate daily workflow.
• Experience working with union employees and familiarity with labor relations in a union environment.
• Working knowledge of safety management and OSHA compliance requirements.
• Experience maintaining GMP and food safety standards in a food manufacturing or distribution setting.
• Ability to monitor and manage KPIs, throughput, productivity, and other performance metrics.
• Strong skills in performance management, employee coaching, and training.
• Ability to coordinate transportation, dock management, and truck scheduling activities.
• Experience supporting quality assurance requirements within warehouse operations.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to lead shift meetings and align teams to goals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field (preferred).
• Prior experience in a food manufacturing facility or food distribution environment.
• Experience working in a stable, high-volume manufacturing or distribution operation.
• Exposure to lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Experience coordinating with production, quality, and customer service functions.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced warehouse environment with forklifts and material handling equipment present.

Work Environment

The role is based in a food manufacturing facility with an integrated distribution center environment. You will work in fast-paced warehouse operations where forklifts and other material handling equipment are present, requiring strong safety awareness and adherence to GMP and food safety standards. The workforce is unionized, and you will serve in a leadership role with direct reports. Production supervisor is day shift and warehouse is afternoon shift.

This is a Permanent position based out of Ankeny, IA.

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $110000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
