QA Lab Tech

The QA Lab Technician plays a key role in ensuring product quality and safety within a food manufacturing environment. This position focuses on testing wet blended products, managing raw material and finished product data, and supporting quality assurance activities to meet regulatory, customer, and internal standards.

• Maintain and update raw material supplier information to ensure accurate and current quality records.
• Perform routine testing on wet blended products multiple times throughout the day, including titratable acidity, moisture, pH, and fat testing.
• Enter test data and results into computer systems accurately and in a timely manner.
• Communicate test results clearly to processing personnel to support production decisions.
• Provide packing approval to wet blending operators based on quality test results and established standards.
• Visually inspect finished product samples, log sample information, retain portions, and shelve samples for future reference or analysis.
• Conduct weekly audits of the warehouse and plant, documenting any product safety or Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) violations.
• Advise the Quality Assurance Manager of any product safety or GMP issues identified during audits.
• Generate specialty Certificates of Analysis (COAs) to comply with specific customer requirements and EU certification for overseas shipments.
• Receive raw materials and verify requirements such as kosher status, EU status, and COA status before release.
• Enter and release raw materials in the Adage system after confirming all quality and regulatory requirements are met.
• Collect and sample raw materials for quality testing and, when needed, coordinate with outside laboratories for additional sampling and analysis.
• Assist the Quality Assurance Manager by entering COA information for finished products and releasing finished products in Adage.
• Provide coverage for the Quality Assurance Manager position in the event of absence to ensure continuity of quality assurance operations.

• Experience in food manufacturing or food safety environments, with a focus on quality control and quality assurance.
• Practical knowledge of biology and food science as they relate to product quality and safety.
• Hands-on experience with titration and other laboratory testing methods used in food quality analysis.
• Proficiency in pH testing and interpretation of results for food products.
• Understanding of microbiology principles relevant to food safety and product quality.
• Ability to perform detailed inspections and quality checks on raw materials and finished products.
• Strong oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with production and quality teams.
• Clear and concise written communication skills for documenting test results, audits, and COA information.
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability to proactively address and resolve work-related quality issues.
• High level of accountability, with the ability to take responsibility for actions and decisions in the lab and production environment.
• Sensory ability to taste or smell foods or beverages as part of product evaluation and quality checks.

• Comfort working with computer systems and enterprise applications such as Adage for data entry and product release.
• Attention to detail in maintaining supplier information, COA records, and audit documentation.
• Capacity to step into broader quality assurance responsibilities when needed, including covering leadership duties in the absence of the Quality Assurance Manager.

This role operates in a food manufacturing and laboratory setting, involving routine testing of wet blended products and regular interaction with production areas, warehouse, and plant facilities. The position follows a first-shift schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Work includes time in a lab environment using testing equipment for titration, pH measurement, moisture and fat analysis, as well as time on the production floor conducting visual inspections and GMP audits. The QA Lab Technician uses computer systems, including Adage, to record data, manage COAs, and release materials and finished products. The environment emphasizes product safety, adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices, and collaborative communication with processing personnel and quality assurance leadership.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Racine, WI.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
