Position Summary

Lone Star Logics is seeking Custom PLC Programmer / Project Managers to program and deliver custom industrial automation projects, including equipment controls, blower and compressor systems, packaged skids, motor control, and plant integration. This role develops PLC and HMI software, tests systems before shipment, and supports startup and commissioning. Senior-level candidates will also manage custom projects from kickoff through commissioning.

Role Expectations

Mid-Level Expectations: Take a control narrative and drawing package, produce PLC and HMI code, test the system, and support startup.

Senior-Level Expectations: Write control narratives, architect the software, manage the project, lead factory acceptance testing, and commission systems with limited supervision. Five or more years of relevant experience is expected at this level.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Write control narratives; program PLCs using Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block; and develop HMIs.
• Write and execute acceptance tests.
• Support factory testing, on-site startup, tuning, and commissioning.
• Manage custom jobs, including scope, schedule, coordination, customer communication, documentation, and revision control.
• Improve existing standard products and help develop new products.

Required Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation Technology, or a related field.

Skills and Qualifications (Required)

• PLC and HMI experience appropriate to the position level. Senior-level candidates must have extensive demonstrated experience beyond coursework.
• Industrial startup and commissioning experience for senior-level candidates.
• Clear documentation and revision control practices.
• Ability to work across Engineering, Sales, and the shop.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Rockwell CompactLogix or ControlLogix, Siemens, Phoenix Contact, or Modicon M340 or M580 platforms.

Schedule: Full-Time

Travel: Typically under 20–30%; home most weekends
