Position Summary
The Assistant Project Superintendent supports the Project Superintendent in overseeing the daily field operations of multi-family residential construction projects. This position assists with coordinating subcontractors, monitoring project schedules, maintaining quality and safety standards, and ensuring work is completed according to approved plans, specifications, and company standards.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on, organized, and dependable construction professional who can effectively communicate with subcontractors, vendors, project management, and field personnel. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Superintendent with the day-to-day management of construction activities on multi-family housing projects.
- Monitor subcontractor activities and coordinate work to maintain the project schedule.
- Conduct regular jobsite walks to monitor progress, workmanship, safety, and compliance with plans and specifications.
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating subcontractors, vendors, inspections, deliveries, and material requirements.
- Review construction drawings, plans, specifications, and scopes of work to help ensure work is being completed correctly.
- Identify potential construction issues, delays, or conflicts and communicate them promptly to the Project Superintendent and Project Manager.
- Assist with maintaining project schedules and tracking completion of key milestones.
- Monitor jobsite housekeeping and ensure the site remains organized and safe.
- Assist with quality-control inspections and identify deficiencies that need to be corrected.
- Verify that work is completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, building codes, and company standards.
- Assist with coordinating municipal inspections and other required inspections.
- Maintain daily logs, photographs, reports, and other required project documentation.
- Help track materials, equipment, and deliveries to ensure they are available when needed.
- Communicate professionally with subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, property representatives, and other project team members.
- Assist with punch-list completion and project closeout activities.
- Support the Project Superintendent in enforcing company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Attend and participate in construction meetings as requested.
- Help maintain a clean, professional, and safe jobsite.
- Perform other construction-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of construction experience preferred.
- Experience in residential, multi-family, commercial, or related construction preferred.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and sequencing.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities and priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with subcontractors, vendors, and internal team members.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn construction/project management software.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work outdoors and remain active on a construction site throughout the workday.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk and stand on active construction sites for extended periods.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and navigate uneven terrain.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry construction-related materials or equipment.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

This position is primarily based at active multi-family construction job sites. The Assistant Project Superintendent must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and around construction equipment, materials, subcontractors, and other job-site activities.
