Mechanical Engineer

Join a fast-paced unmanned maritime systems team and play a key role in transitioning advanced products from engineering into production. In this role, you act as a critical bridge between Engineering and Manufacturing, ensuring that complex mechanical systems are buildable, supportable, and perform as intended throughout their lifecycle. You will contribute to the design, integration, testing, and continuous improvement of autonomous systems and oceanographic products while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

• Support manufacturing and production teams with day-to-day product troubleshooting and mechanical issue resolution.
• Perform root cause analysis on mechanical assembly, integration, and performance issues to identify and correct underlying problems.
• Create, update, and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and engineering change documentation to ensure clear and accurate guidance for production.
• Review and scrub bills of material (BOMs) for accuracy, completeness, and configuration control to support reliable manufacturing.
• Support product testing activities, including test planning, execution, and documentation, to verify design performance and reliability.
• Participate in failure investigations and drive corrective and preventive actions to improve product robustness.
• Execute light mechanical design tasks and drawing updates using SolidWorks, ensuring designs are clearly defined and manufacturable.
• Apply principles and techniques of mechanical engineering to research, develop, design, and test verified design solutions for unmanned maritime and oceanographic systems.
• Lead or contribute to system and subsystem designs for integration into autonomous systems, including military and commercially available oceanography products.
• Support the completion of product life cycle analysis and develop technical data packages for new and existing designs.
• Work within a cross-functional design team to bring designs through first article build, testing, integration, and delivery to manufacturing.
• Collaborate closely with design engineering, quality, supply chain, and production teams to improve product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Provide ongoing support to both engineering and manufacturing throughout all phases of the design and production process.
• Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives in manufacturing and engineering workflows.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, production, or product engineering environments.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks for mechanical design and drawing updates.
• Proficiency with engineering documentation, including process documentation, work instructions, and change documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting and hands-on mechanical problem-solving skills.
• Experience with BOM management, including review and configuration control.
• Experience with testing and engineering change processes.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis on mechanical assembly and integration issues.
• Familiarity with applying mechanical engineering principles to research, design, development, and testing activities.

• Experience working with unmanned maritime systems or autonomous systems.
• Background in designing or supporting military or commercially available oceanography products.
• Experience using CAD tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of process improvement practices in a manufacturing or product engineering environment.
• Familiarity with mechanical GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) concepts.
• Experience supporting designs through first article, test, integration, and transfer to manufacturing.
• Ability to develop and maintain technical data packages for new and existing designs.
• Strong collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality, supply chain, and production.

This is an onsite position based in Pocasset, MA, within a dynamic and fast-paced engineering and production environment. You will work as part of a cross-functional design team responsible for bringing complex mechanical and autonomous system designs through first article build, testing, integration, and delivery to manufacturing. The work involves frequent collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams, and focuses on applying mechanical engineering principles to research, develop, design, and test verified design solutions. You will regularly use tools such as SolidWorks, CAD applications, and standard engineering documentation systems while working hands-on with mechanical assemblies and production processes in a collaborative, solution-oriented setting.

This is a Permanent position based out of Pocasset, MA.

The pay range for this position is $42.50 - $64.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
