Job Description

The Gluer Machine Operator sets up, operates, and monitors gluing and folding equipment in a paper and cardboard manufacturing environment. This role focuses on producing high-quality boxes and folding cartons by safely running folder/gluer machines, performing routine quality checks, and handling minor machine maintenance to ensure consistent, efficient production.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate folder/gluer machines to produce boxes and folding cartons according to production specifications.
  • Monitor gluing and folding processes to ensure consistent quality, alignment, and adhesion of paper and cardboard materials.
  • Perform regular quality checks on finished products, verifying dimensions, structural integrity, and visual appearance against standards.
  • Adjust machine settings as needed to optimize performance, reduce waste, and maintain production efficiency.
  • Carry out minor maintenance and troubleshooting on gluing and folding equipment to prevent downtime and extend machine life.
  • Inspect materials before and during runs to identify defects or issues and take corrective action when necessary.
  • Follow established production schedules, meeting output targets while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area around the gluer machine and adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with production team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow and resolve operational issues.
  • Document production information, including counts, quality issues, and machine adjustments, as required by company procedures.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating production machinery, specifically folder/gluer or similar equipment.
  • Hands-on experience operating a folder/gluer machine, preferably in a folding carton environment.
  • Proven ability to operate and monitor gluing and folding equipment in a paper or cardboard manufacturing setting.
  • Strong machine operation skills with an understanding of mechanical adjustments and basic troubleshooting.
  • Experience in box making and working with corrugated or paperboard materials.
  • Ability to perform routine quality checks and identify defects in finished products.
  • Familiarity with production environments that may include printing press or related equipment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining consistent product quality.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and production specifications accurately.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for performing minor maintenance and adjustments on machinery.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a folding carton manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in corrugated packaging production or box making operations.
  • Experience working alongside or in coordination with printing press operations.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a paper and cardboard manufacturing facility with active production lines and gluing/folding equipment. Safety procedures are clearly defined, and you are expected to follow all equipment and facility guidelines while maintaining a clean and organized work area. Typical work involves standard production hours that may include shift-based schedules depending on operational needs, with attire suitable for a manufacturing floor and adherence to any required personal protective equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mansfield, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
