Senior Staff Accountant

Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to support the accounting operations of a growing hospitality organization. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, executing month-end close activities, performing account reconciliations, and supporting compliance requirements across restaurant and lodging divisions. The Senior Staff Accountant will work closely with the Controller and accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting while supporting operational and strategic business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare, analyze, and review monthly financial statements for multiple business units.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, credit card accounts, and balance sheet accounts.
- Monitor cash activity and maintain accurate banking records.
- Assist with accounts payable functions, vendor reconciliations, and weekly payment processing.
- Prepare and maintain fixed asset, prepaid expense, and accrual schedules.
- Review and support sales tax, hospitality tax, accommodation tax, and other regulatory filings.
- Manage property tax payments, business licenses, permits, and renewal requirements.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
- Support annual audits and provide requested documentation.
- Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
- Partner with operations and leadership teams to provide financial support and reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hospitality, restaurant, hotel, or multi-location accounting experience.
- Experience with QuickBooks, Fintech, or other accounting/ERP systems.
- Previous experience supporting multiple business entities or locations.
- CPA designation or CPA-track candidate preferred.
- Experience with sales tax and hospitality-related compliance reporting.
