We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with 3+ years of experience in electrical design for MEP/building projects. The ideal candidate will have experience designing electrical systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, multifamily, or other building projects and will be comfortable working through projects from initial design through construction.
This is an opportunity to join a collaborative engineering team working on a variety of projects throughout the Dallas area.
Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems for commercial and building projects, including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, and life-safety systems.
- Prepare electrical engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and construction documents.
- Develop electrical layouts and coordinate designs with architectural, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and other disciplines.
- Perform electrical load calculations, voltage-drop calculations, and other engineering analyses.
- Review project plans and specifications for accuracy, code compliance, and constructability.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist with construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, and field observations.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, NFPA standards, and other relevant requirements.
- Participate in project meetings and communicate technical information effectively to project stakeholders.
- Support project managers and senior engineers with project planning and technical deliverables.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 3+ years of electrical engineering/design experience, preferably within an MEP consulting environment.
- Experience designing electrical systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, multifamily, or other building projects.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with Revit MEP is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of electrical codes and standards, including NEC and NFPA.
- Experience with electrical calculations, power distribution, lighting, and equipment coordination.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- EIT certification or PE license is preferred but not required.
Preferred Experience
- MEP consulting engineering experience.
- Experience with Revit MEP and BIM coordination.
- Experience working directly with architects, contractors, and clients.
- Healthcare, education, commercial, multifamily, or other complex building project experience.
- Progress toward an EIT or PE license.
