We are seeking an experienced Sinker / Wire EDM Programmer with strong hands-on experience programming and operating Sodick EDM equipment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing efficient EDM programs, setting up machines, troubleshooting machining issues, and producing high-quality precision components to tight tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
- Program and operate Sodick Wire EDM and Sinker EDM machines.
- Create, modify, and optimize EDM programs based on engineering drawings and CAD/CAM data.
- Set up machines, tooling, workholding, electrodes, and workpieces.
- Determine appropriate cutting conditions, feeds, speeds, offsets, and machining strategies.
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications.
- Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment.
- Troubleshoot EDM programming, setup, and machining problems.
- Optimize programs and processes to improve cycle time, quality, and machine utilization.
- Maintain accurate setup sheets, programs, and machining documentation.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of EDM programming and setup experience, preferably with Sodick equipment.
- Strong experience with Wire EDM and/or Sinker EDM.
- Experience programming Sodick machines is highly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Strong understanding of EDM machining principles and processes.
- Experience working to tight tolerances in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Ability to use micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, and other inspection equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple jobs and priorities.
- CNC/EDM programming or CAD/CAM experience preferred.
Education & Experience:
- High School education or equivalent
- Must possess basic computer skills
- Ability to operate Computer Numerically Controlled Electrical Discharge Machines
- Minimum 3 years related job experience and technical education
