Interim Controller - Manufacturing

Immediate Need | Interim/Contract Opportunity

Are you the type of Controller who can walk into an accounting department, quickly identify what needs attention, and get things back on track?

We are seeking an experienced Interim Controller for a manufacturing company. This role requires a hands-on accounting leader who understands the complexities of a manufacturing environment and is comfortable stepping into an existing operation to clean up, fine-tune, and improve accounting processes.

This is not a “maintain the status quo” assignment. We need someone who can assess current processes, roll up their sleeves, identify gaps, and help create a stronger and more efficient accounting function.

• Lead day-to-day accounting and financial operations

• Assess current accounting processes, controls, and reporting

• Identify areas requiring clean-up, correction, or process improvement

• Fine-tune accounting procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency

• Oversee month-end close and financial reporting

• Review and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts

• Ensure inventory, costing, and other manufacturing-related accounting is accurate

• Strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures

• Research and resolve historical or ongoing accounting discrepancies

• Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team

• Work closely with executive and operational leadership

• Assist with special projects and other accounting clean-up initiatives as needed

• Recent accounting leadership experience within a manufacturing company is required

• Prefer a minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience

• Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or comparable leadership experience

• Strong understanding of manufacturing accounting, inventory, and cost accounting

• Demonstrated experience with accounting clean-up and process improvement

• Strong general ledger, reconciliation, and month-end close experience

• Ability to quickly evaluate existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement

• Hands-on leadership style willing and able to work in the details when needed

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate effectively in an evolving environment

You’re someone who enjoys walking into a situation, figuring out what’s working, what isn’t, and what needs to change.

You can operate at the Controller level while still being comfortable getting into the details. You understand manufacturing accounting, know how to clean up financial processes, and can bring structure and consistency without overcomplicating things.
