About the Role
Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented Loan Processor for a contract opportunity with a growing financial services organization in Meriden, Connecticut. This role is ideal for a professional with experience handling loan documentation, coordinating with borrowers and lenders, and ensuring loans progress efficiently through the approval and closing process.
The Loan Processor will serve as a key point of contact throughout the loan lifecycle, helping to ensure that applications are complete, accurate, and compliant with company and regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Review loan applications and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Collect and verify required borrower information, including income, assets, employment, and credit documentation
- Communicate with applicants, loan officers, underwriters, and third-party vendors to obtain outstanding conditions
- Order and monitor appraisals, title reports, flood certifications, and other required documentation
- Maintain accurate and organized loan files throughout the processing cycle
- Submit complete loan packages to underwriting for review
- Track loan statuses and proactively follow up on outstanding items
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable lending regulations
- Prepare files for closing and funding
- Provide exceptional customer service while guiding borrowers through the loan process
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
- 2+ years of loan processing, mortgage processing, banking, or financial services experience
- Knowledge of residential mortgage loan documentation and lending processes
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Ability to manage multiple loan files and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with loan origination systems (LOS)
- Familiarity with mortgage underwriting guidelines and compliance requirements
- Experience processing conventional, FHA, VA, or other residential loan products
- Understanding of closing and funding procedures
- NMLS licensing or mortgage industry certifications a plus
Schedule
- Full-time, Monday through Friday
- Standard business hours
- Contract assignment with potential for extension based on business needs
