Reliability Engineer

The Reliability Engineer will play a key role in improving the performance, reliability, and availability of natural gas compressor station equipment across the pipeline system. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys a combination of hands-on fieldwork, equipment troubleshooting, data analysis, and reliability improvement projects.

In this role, you will analyze asset performance, investigate equipment issues, support commissioning and startup activities, and develop solutions that reduce downtime and improve equipment efficiency. You will work closely with operations, maintenance, controls, and engineering teams while becoming a trusted technical resource for compressor station equipment.

You will also have a strong support system as you get up to speed. The selected engineer will work alongside another Reliability Engineer and a Reliability Specialist, both of whom will provide hands-on training and support throughout the technical ramp-up period.

• Monitor and evaluate the performance of compressors, engines, turbines, control systems, and supporting equipment.
• Analyze equipment performance, condition, and failure data to identify potential issues before they result in outages.
• Develop strategies to improve equipment reliability, uptime, efficiency, and overall performance.
• Lead and participate in root cause investigations following equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls, and equipment performance issues alongside operations and maintenance teams.
• Conduct field visits to investigate failures, verify equipment performance, and provide hands-on technical support.
• Support equipment specification, evaluation, installation, testing, commissioning, and startup.
• Lead or participate in reliability and efficiency improvement projects across compressor station assets.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, controls, IT, and other engineering disciplines to improve asset performance.
• Develop technical reports, engineering studies, equipment specifications, maintenance strategies, and project documentation.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with compressor station projects, including equipment installation and commissioning.
• Knowledge of 2-cycle engines, 4-cycle engines, turbines, and associated control systems.
• Understanding of auxiliary systems supporting natural gas compression equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical equipment issues and work collaboratively with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams.
• Comfortable working in both office and field environments.

The following experience is highly desirable:

• 3+ years of experience with PLC programming, SCADA, and/or industrial automation systems.
• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certificate.
• Experience with OSI PI or similar asset performance/data analytics platforms.
• Knowledge of industrial engines, compressors, and natural gas transmission systems.
• Familiarity with natural gas transmission regulations and industry standards.
• Understanding of machinery analysis and reliability techniques.
• Exposure to mechanical, electrical, controls, or design engineering.
• Experience supporting pipeline or other industrial equipment systems.

This is a direct-hire, salaried opportunity offering a combination of office-based engineering work and hands-on field support at natural gas compressor stations.

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00/7:30 AM to 3:30/4:00 PM.
• Travel: Approximately 25% to 30%, primarily driving to compressor station locations with occasional overnight trips.
• Training & Support: You will work closely with one other Reliability Engineer and a Reliability Specialist, who will provide training, mentorship, and technical support throughout your ramp-up period.
• During the initial training period, you will travel in tandem with the other Reliability Engineer to compressor stations, allowing you to gain hands-on knowledge of the equipment, facilities, and processes before working more independently.

This is a Permanent position based out of Owensboro, KY.

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $145000.00/yr.
