Location: Ontario, CA
Compensation: $55K - $95K (DOE)
Position Summary
We're seeking a Controls Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong technical aptitude and programming skills who is interested in industrial automation, controls, and manufacturing systems.
You will work alongside experienced engineers to support the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of control systems used in manufacturing and industrial environments. While prior controls experience is a plus, we are willing to train the right candidate on PLC programming, industrial automation systems, and controls engineering fundamentals.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of PLC, HMI, and SCADA-based control systems
- Support programming, testing, debugging, and implementation of automation solutions
- Collaborate with senior engineers on new equipment installations and process improvement projects
- Troubleshoot control system and electrical issues to maximize equipment performance and reliability
- Participate in equipment startup, commissioning, and system validation activities
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and uptime
- Work closely with engineering, production, maintenance, and operations teams
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and company procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Programming experience and the ability to read, write, and troubleshoot code
- Experience gained through coursework, internships, co-ops, projects, or professional employment
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Interest in industrial automation, controls, robotics, and manufacturing technologies
- Willingness to learn PLC programming and control system development
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to PLC programming, HMI development, or SCADA systems
- Understanding of electrical systems, control theory, and automation fundamentals
- Experience with robotics, machine vision, motion control, or industrial communication networks
- Familiarity with manufacturing or industrial environments
