**POSITION SUMMARY
**
JWC Machine and Fab is seeking a CAD Designer or Drafter to support our engineering and production team. This role bridges the gap between customer requirements and the shop floor creating, reviewing, and managing technical drawings and models that our machinists rely on to produce precision components. The position is well-suited for candidates ranging from detail drafters to experienced mechanical designers; responsibility and compensation will align with demonstrated capability.
**RESPONSIBILITIES
**
Create and revise 2D engineering drawings and/or 3D models from customer specifications, sketches, or verbal requirements
Ensure drawings include correct GD&T callouts, tolerances, material specifications, and surface finish requirements
Review incoming customer drawings for manufacturability and flag concerns before production begins
Maintain organized drawing libraries and revision control in accordance with shop documentation standards
Collaborate closely with machinists and supervisors to resolve interpretation questions on the floor
Support quoting activities by providing accurate drawing interpretations and dimensional analysis
Assist with process documentation, work instructions, and job traveler creation as needed
**QUALIFICATIONS
**
Proficiency in CAD software SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or equivalent
Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and engineering drawing interpretation
Experience creating drawings for machined parts preferred; castings and weldments a plus
Understanding of manufacturing processes how parts are actually made is a significant advantage
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple drawing packages simultaneously
Effective communicator comfortable working directly with machinists and customers alike
