Position Overview
We are seeking a Firmware Applications Engineer - SSD to join our product development team. The role focuses on integrating, validating, optimizing, and supporting SSD firmware and host-side applications to deliver high-performance, reliable storage products. You will work closely with firmware, hardware, QA, and product teams to tune performance (PCIe/NVMe/SATA), diagnose issues, develop test automation, and provide customer-facing technical support. Mandarin language skills are a plus for collaboration with APAC customers and teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate host-side firmware applications and drivers to support SSD products across PCIe/NVMe and SATA interfaces.
• Tune and benchmark SSD performance, latency, and power characteristics; analyze results and recommend firmware/hardware changes.
• Debug and root-cause system-level issues using protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, serial traces, JTAG, and software instrumentation.
• Design and execute test plans, create automated test suites, and maintain reproducible validation environments.
• Collaborate with firmware, hardware, QA, and product managers to prioritize issues, define requirements, and drive features to release.
• Implement and optimize low-level code in C/C++ for microcontrollers and controller firmware interfaces.
• Provide technical support and field troubleshooting for customers and partners, including on-site visits if required.
• Produce clear technical documentation, release notes, and knowledge-transfer materials for internal teams and customers.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of development and verification processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with SSD firmware, storage protocols, or firmware applications; experience across HDD/SSD ecosystems is a plus.
• Strong experience with PCIe, NVMe, and SATA interfaces and related host/target interactions.
• Proven proficiency in C and C++ for embedded and firmware-level development; experience with microcontrollers and controller platforms.
• Familiarity with flash memory behavior, wear-leveling, ECC, SMART attributes, and storage reliability concepts.
• Experience with Linux debugging, kernel drivers, and system-level performance analysis tools.
• Comfortable using hardware debug tools (logic analyzer, protocol analyzer, JTAG, oscilloscopes) and firmware flashing procedures.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to cross-functional teams and customers.
• Mandarin proficiency preferred for customer engagement and collaboration with APAC teams.
• Willingness to travel for customer support, validation labs, or partner integration as needed.
