Job Summary
The Logistics Associate (Locker Delivery Driver)plays a critical role in the efficient transportation and distribution of food to communities in need. This position involvesoperatingvarious vehicles, including commercial vans and box trucks, to ensure thetimely and safe delivery of fresh and nonperishable food items. TheDelivery Driverwill collaborate closely with the Logistics Manager to coordinate delivery routes,maintain vehicles, and support inventory management. The Locker Delivery Driver willbe responsible forensuring that food arrives safely while adhering to the highest standards of food safety and transportation regulations.
This role supports food distribution efforts by helping ensure essential food supplies reach community partners and individuals facing food insecurity. In addition to transporting food, the position helpsmaintaina reliable and efficient system for getting fresh, healthy food to the people who need it most. The role is well suited for someone with a passion forlogistics, comfort being on the road, and a strong commitment to safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation Logistics
- Safelyoperateacommercial vanor box truck
- Collaborate with the Logistics Manageron vehicle safety and condition
- Ensure on-timedeliveries andpickups, handling any necessary documentation or payments.
- Safelyoperatea liftgate when loading and unloading food, equipment, and other delivery items.
- Maintaintimelycommunication with the Logistics Manager and Customer Service teamregardingdelivery status, route changes, delays, and other operational needs.
- Conduct vehicle inspections for mechanical issues, safety concerns, and preventive maintenance to keep vehicles in top condition.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and fuel levels, ensuring all vehicles are always ready for use.
Safety and Compliance
- Comply withDepartment of Transportation regulations and company policies for safe driving and vehicle operation.
- Ensure safety at all delivery and receiving locations, reporting any concerns to the Logistics Manager.
- Follow Washington Food Coalition, Emergency Food Network, Food Lifeline, and Northwest Harvest guidelines for food safety and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Monitor andmaintainproper storage temperatures for perishable items to prevent spoilage.
- Maintain cleanliness and ensure safety in all equipment, vehicles, and storage areas to support a secure working environment.
Requirements
- Knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations and safe driving practices.
- Strong understanding of inventory management and food safety protocols.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as loading and unloading food items.
- Capability to plan and follow routes effectively with attention to safety and timing.
- Commitment to following safety policies and procedures to ensure a secure environment for all.
Qualifications
Education / Work Experience
- High School Diploma or GED.
- U.S. work authorizationrequired.
- Valid driver's license for 5 years or more.
- Clean driving record within the last 3 years.
- Pass a drug and criminal background test.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds safely with reasonable accommodation.
- Have a Washington State Food Handler's Permit (once hired).
- Forklift certification (once hired).
