Lead Emergency Services at a High-Acuity Dallas Hospital

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) leader to serve as Nurse Manager of Emergency Services for an established acute-care hospital in the Dallas, Texas market.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Emergency Department nursing leader who combines strong clinical knowledge with operational leadership and is ready to take responsibility for staffing, patient flow, quality outcomes, employee engagement, budgeting, and overall departmental performance.

Current Emergency Department Nurse Managers are strongly encouraged to apply. Experienced Assistant Nurse Managers who have significant responsibility for ED operations, staffing, performance management, quality initiatives, and physician collaboration may also be considered.

Emergency Department Overview

The Emergency Department is a fast-paced acute-care environment with:

  • 41 Emergency Department treatment rooms
  • 16 additional hallway treatment spaces
  • Approximately 35 FTEs
  • A strong focus on patient throughput, quality, safety, employee engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration

Position Summary

The Nurse Manager of Emergency Services provides daily clinical and operational leadership for the Emergency Department and is responsible for ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.

The Nurse Manager works closely with nursing staff, physicians, hospital leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes, optimize ED operations, strengthen employee engagement, and maintain regulatory readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and operational leadership for Emergency Services.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services within the Emergency Department.
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, productivity, labor utilization, and employee performance.
  • Manage patient flow and support initiatives designed to improve ED throughput.
  • Build collaborative working relationships with emergency physicians, nursing staff, hospital leadership, and other departments.
  • Coach, mentor, develop, and retain nursing staff.
  • Promote employee engagement and a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead quality-improvement and patient-safety initiatives.
  • Monitor quality metrics, patient satisfaction, operational performance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and evidence-based best practices.
  • Participate in departmental budget preparation and maintain fiscal accountability.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing and resource utilization based on patient volume and acuity.
  • Maintain departmental readiness for regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Active Texas RN license or Multi-State Compact RN license
  • Current BLS certification
  • Emergency Department nursing leadership experience
  • Minimum five years of progressive nursing leadership experience
  • Inpatient acute-care Emergency Department RN experience
  • Demonstrated experience with staffing and labor management
  • Experience with budgeting and fiscal responsibility
  • Strong experience collaborating with physicians and hospital leadership
  • Experience leading quality-improvement and patient-safety initiatives
  • Permanent authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

The following are strongly preferred but are not required:

  • Current or previous Emergency Department Nurse Manager experience
  • Experience leading a high-volume Emergency Department
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related discipline
  • Strong record of improving ED throughput and operational performance
  • Demonstrated success with employee engagement and retention
  • Significant experience managing quality metrics, staffing, budgets, and physician relationships

Assistant Nurse Managers Are Encouraged to Apply

You do not necessarily need to currently hold the Nurse Manager title.

Strong Emergency Department Assistant Nurse Managers may be considered if they have substantial operational responsibility, including experience with staffing, scheduling, employee performance, quality initiatives, department operations, patient flow, and physician collaboration.

Certification Requirements

Candidates should possess or be able to obtain the following within the required timeframe:

  • BLS: Current
  • ACLS: Within 6 months of hire
  • PALS: Within 6 months of hire
  • TNCC, ENPC, or CEN: Within 18 months of hire

Compensation

The anticipated compensation range is approximately $106,400–$160,000 annually.

The minimum starting rate is approximately $51.47/hour, with final compensation determined by the candidate's years of RN experience, leadership experience, education, qualifications, and other applicable factors.

Sign-On Bonus: Up to $20,000 for eligible candidates.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
