Truck Driver - Part Time
Position Summary
The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation and delivery of medical equipment, supplies, and other company materials. This position operates commercial vehicles in compliance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations. The Truck Driver also assists clinical, and operations staff as needed and represents the company professionally when interacting with customers, patients, vendors, and other healthcare personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely operate tractor-trailer combinations and other assigned commercial vehicles to transport and deliver equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Complete assigned routes and deliveries accurately, safely, and on schedule.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report vehicle or equipment defects, maintenance needs, or safety concerns.
- Maintain required driver logs, trip records, inspection reports, delivery documentation, and other records in accordance with company and DOT requirements.
- Secure and protect equipment, supplies, and cargo during transportation.
- Assist with loading, unloading, moving, and positioning equipment and supplies as needed.
- Assist technologists and other staff with transportation, setup, movement, or handling of equipment as requested.
- Follow all applicable DOT, FMCSA, federal, state, and local transportation laws and regulations.
- Follow company safety policies, procedures, and drug and alcohol testing requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe vehicle and work environment.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, supervisors, operations management, customers, vendors, and company personnel.
- Promptly report accidents, incidents, delays, vehicle issues, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain professional conduct and protect patient, customer, and company confidentiality.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle and duties assigned.
- Required endorsements, such as Hazardous Materials (HazMat) and Tanker, as applicable to the position.
- Minimum of one year of commercial motor vehicle driving experience preferred, or successful completion of the company’s approved driver training program.
- Must meet applicable DOT physical and medical qualification requirements.
- Must successfully complete required drug and alcohol testing and participate in applicable DOT testing programs.
- Satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR) meeting company safety standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe commercial vehicle operation and applicable transportation regulations.
- Ability to safely lift, move, load, and unload equipment and supplies.
- Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
Driver Safety Requirements:
- Employment and continued qualifications are contingent upon maintaining a satisfactory driving record and meeting company and regulatory safety standards, including:
- No disqualifying DUI/DWI, drug- or alcohol-related driving offenses, hit-and-run, reckless driving, or other serious traffic violations within the applicable review period.
- No current license suspension, revocation, or disqualification.
- Driving history must meet company requirements for moving violations and at-fault accidents.
- Compliance with all applicable DOT and company driver qualification requirements.
