Registered Nurse Stepdown

The Registered Nurse Stepdown provides comprehensive care for a mixed-acuity population of cardiac and vascular patients. This role uses central telemetry and an electronic early-warning system to monitor patient status, deliver timely interventions, and coordinate safe, effective care across the clinical team.

13 Week Contract with the option to extend

Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Charting System: Required - Epic

Patient Ratio: 1:4

Floating required to like units - travelers must be flexible to floating
Every other weekend required
Experience: Must have surgical tele experience, open heart surgery and vascular, ( groin)radial band management, IV skills, NIH 2-3 years telemetry experience; optional- VAD, TAVR experience)

Responsibilities

• Assess cardiac and vascular patients and identify changes in clinical condition.
• Monitor patients using central telemetry and the electronic early-warning system.
• Administer medications and intravenous therapies safely and accurately.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation in electronic health records.
• Provide clear handoff communication and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team.
• Respond to urgent changes in patient condition and participate in rapid response activities.
• Educate patients and families and support discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of stepdown nursing experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Active Registered Nurse license.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
• NIHSS certification or training.
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
• Proficiency in medication administration, intravenous therapy, electronic health records, and clinical assessment.
• Strong critical-thinking, team collaboration, and patient-education skills.
