Job Description
We are seeking a Retirement Counselor to manage and strengthen long-term relationships with retirement plan sponsor clients. This role combines client service, retirement plan consulting, governance support, and coordination with recordkeepers and TPAs, with approximately 40% travel tomeet withclients and plan participants.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage long-term relationships with retirement plan sponsor clients.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact, ensuring client satisfaction and retention.
  • Support retirement plan design, governance, and compliance initiatives.
  • Consult with clients on investment objectives and assist with Investment Policy Statement (IPS) updates.
  • Coordinate with recordkeepers, TPAs, and other service providers.
  • Oversee plan amendments, installations, asset transfers, and investment lineup changes.
  • Develop and deliver participant education and enrollment programs.
  • Provide ongoing support for annual retirement plan administration requirements.
  • Communicate market updates, investment strategies, and plan-related changes to clients.
  • Deliver fee benchmarking and other information supporting plan sponsor fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external providers to ensure effective plan servicing.
  • Travel approximately 40% to meet with clients and plan participants.
  • Maintain strict boundaries around investment advice and recommendations.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in asset management, retirement services, financial services, or client service preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of securities, financial markets, and retirement plans.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong client-service and relationship-management skills.
  • Ability to work with complex, sensitive, and high-profile client relationships.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel approximately 40% of the time for client and participant meetings.
  • Ability to obtain required securities licenses/registrations or currently hold the applicable licenses or designation.
  • Must understand and maintain therole’s restrictionsregarding providing investment advice or recommendations.
