Summary
The Accounting Operations Manager is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Payroll and Accounting department while supporting the Controller in maintaining accurate records, reporting, compliance, and operational effectiveness. This position oversees accounting staff, coordinates departmental workflows, and ensures the timely and accurate execution of accounting, payroll support, month-end close, reporting, and compliance activities.
The Accounting Operations Manager serves as a key operational resource within the finance function, helping to maintain strong financial processes, develop team capabilities, and support the organization's growth through accurate financial information and continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions
The Accounting Operations Manager’s essential functions consist of accurate and timely preparation of all facets of financial operations and company policies including, but not limited to, monthly P-L, accounts payable and receivables, cash flow, worker’s compensation, state tax accounting, payroll, and 401(k) operations. The Accounting Manager will also assist in an internal audit scope, annual plan development, and other duties as assigned. This role demands high attention to detail with a strong working knowledge and understanding for accounting and bookkeeping practices, laws, and regulations. The individual in this role is trusted with great responsibility, confidentiality and authority and will be held to high standards of performance. This role is expected to maintain regular in-office attendance as required to effectively perform the essential functions of the position and support collaboration across the organization.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent experience within Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • 3 – 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Advanced computer skills specifically within MS Office and accounting software and databases.
  • High attention to detail with exceptional proficiency in processing, reporting, and managing large amounts of data.
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Ability to direct and lead in coordination with other team members through critical thinking and problem solving.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience working in a high-growth or rapidly scaling organization preferred.
  • Staffing Industry experience preferred.
