Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 12-hour shifts
Pay: $18.50/hour
The Forklift Driver is responsible for accurately identifying, moving, loading, unloading, and processing products and materials throughout the manufacturing facility. This position supports production machines, shipping and receiving, inventory control, and general warehouse operations.
The role requires the safe operation of forklifts and other powered industrial equipment, along with the use of computers, radio-frequency scanners, barcode systems, and warehouse-management applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts with multiple attachments and other powered industrial equipment.
- Identify and deliver the correct products and materials to production machines accurately and efficiently.
- Review production schedules, job instructions, and material requests to determine priorities.
- Load and unload products and materials from trucks and trailers.
- Verify shipment quantities and product condition, documenting any shortages or damage.
- Properly block, brace, and distribute loads throughout trailers.
- Confirm that the correct trailer, product, and number of floor spaces are being used before loading.
- Use RF scanning systems and other applications to confirm that products are physically available and ready to ship.
- Move, stack, and unstack products and supplies throughout the facility.
- Understand warehouse layouts, product locations, and automated storage systems.
- Prepare work-in-process, newsstand, bulk, and mail skids for shipment.
- Select the correct packaging materials, including:
- Wood or cardboard tops
- Corner protectors
- Proper wrapping and compression
- Straps and required quantities
- Perform product-handling duties such as cartoning, labeling, skid piling, wrapping, strapping, scanning, and assigning product locations.
- Support automated equipment and systems, including auto-wrappers, HDSS, ASRS, VNA, and AGV systems.
- Identify operational or equipment problems and resolve them independently when possible.
- Notify the appropriate leader when additional help or maintenance is needed.
- Maintain dispatch schedules and assist with checking drivers in and out.
- Prepare, review, and sign shipping and receiving documents.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse and production area.
- Complete daily equipment inspections and report safety or maintenance concerns immediately.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and workplace initiatives.
- Perform other manufacturing, warehouse, or material-handling duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least one year of manufacturing, warehouse, shipping and receiving, or material-handling experience preferred.
- Previous forklift or powered industrial equipment experience strongly preferred.
- Must complete all required company training and certification programs.
- Must develop sufficient knowledge of the business area to perform daily departmental functions.
Certifications and Training
- Must obtain and maintain company-required Powered Industrial Vehicle certification.
- Must complete all required material-handling, safety, and departmental training programs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform skilled and accurate physical tasks requiring hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to lift or move 10–15 pounds continuously.
- Ability to lift or move up to 70 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and operate equipment throughout the scheduled shift.
