Thompson Farm Supply is a family-owned farm supply retailer serving Southeast Iowa, Northeast Missouri, and West Central Illinois. We provide livestock feed, seed, chemicals, custom application services, waterers and feeders, and forage products to the farmers and producers who make up our community.
Position Summary
We're looking for an organized, customer-focused Front Office / Customer Service Representative to be the first point of contact for our customers both on the phone and in the store. This is a hands-on, varied role that blends front-counter customer service with inventory coordination, order fulfillment, and support for TFS's social media presence. No two days look exactly the same; the right person will be comfortable moving between the front counter, the warehouse floor, and a keyboard.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers and answer questions about products feed, seed, chemical, and fertilizer in person and by phone
- Take and accurately process customer orders in AgVision
- Manage inventory levels, place orders with vendors and suppliers, and track incoming deliveries against purchase orders
- Fill Grind & Mix (G&M) orders according to specified recipes and formulations
- Take chemical/spraying, fertilizer, feed, and seed orders.
- Coordinate the logistics of orders staging orders for pickup or delivery and communicating with drivers and applicators
- Create and manage content for TFS's social media channels to promote products, events, and store updates
- Maintain a clean, organized front office and sales floor
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior customer service or retail experience preferred
- Comfortable with basic computer systems order/inventory software, email, and social media platforms
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when filling feed, seed, or fertilizer orders
- Strong organizational skills and comfort multitasking between customer service, inventory, and order fulfillment
- Familiarity with agricultural products (feed, seed, chemical, fertilizer) is a plus we will train the right candidate
Compensation & Benefits
- Full-time position, targeted salary range: $30,000–$45,000 per year, based on experience

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the store, office, and warehouse
- Ability to help customers with loading vehicles, (up to 50 lbs bags) safely handle feed, seed, and chemical products
- Some exposure to outdoor conditions when assisting with deliveries or loading
