Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Power Systems Engineering Manager with a passion for technology and engineering. The ideal candidate will have a deep and broad knowledge of electrical power distribution design and demonstrated team leadership experience with proven results. In this role, you will contribute power system design expertise to identify, develop and execute power distribution system electrical designs along with system studies that enhance the productivity, cost, and safety of our customers’ operations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside other highly skilled and licensed Professional Engineers while leading a fully staffed electrical engineering team.

What You Will Do:

• Lead a team of 10 or more electrical engineers and technicians, developing top technical talent while mentoring young engineers to build a broad power systems skillset.
• Build relationships with successful global customers while exceeding their expectations on the day-to-day work we perform for them.
• Review for accuracy and approve power systems studies, including short circuit, arc flash analysis, protective device coordination, grounding, power quality, and energy savings projects.
• Design medium and low voltage power distribution systems for new and retrofit installations and provide OJT for others to also perform this work in order to grow the business.
• Provide control system design for power distribution systems, including protective relay specification, protective device programming.
• Document electrical systems (e.g., prepare single-line diagrams, create electrical control schematics, and compile equipment ratings and settings).
• Provide support for new construction and retrofit electrical system design projects.
• Prepare client proposals based upon new-project cost estimation.
• Perform project planning, coordination, and supervision.
• Work with clients on-site to determine optimal system requirements and design constraints.
• Provide testing and data collection support for new project development. This includes problem solving power system failures and new system design.

The position requires a bias for action and quick learning, self-motivation, and basic project management skills. We are looking for someone with a growth mindset to expand our current business.

This is a full-time, hybrid/remote position based in Northwest Ohio. The successful candidate will have flexibility to work remotely; however, regular in-person presence at the company office is expected a few days per week for leadership meetings, collaboration, and other business activities. Most of our clients are located within an hour of Lima, Ohio although we do support customers elsewhere in the country. We are looking to expand and grow our client base. The position requires approximately 25% travel to client sites, industry events, meetings and other business-related activities. Travel requirements may vary based on business needs.

Professional Experience:

• Successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience (preferably 10-20) in the design of power distribution systems for industrial facilities.
• Completion of a minimum 4-year accredited BSEE program (MSEE a plus).
• PE licensure in good standing in the state of Ohio (or a state with reciprocity) is required.
• CEM certification through AEE a plus.
• Experience in leading a team of engineers and technicians.

Technical Abilities:

• Deep and broad knowledge of industrial power distribution design along with demonstrated personal experience in this area.
• Strong knowledge and experience in the specification of MV/LV switchgear and transformers along with the related power distribution components.
• Experienced in specification of protective devices (fuses, circuit breakers, protective relays).
• Extensive knowledge in the application of NFPA 70 (NEC) code requirements as it relates to power system design.
• Experience with power quality analysis and root cause/corrective actions, power factor correction, high resistance grounding, energy audits a big plus.
• Capable of reading and creating single line and 3 line design diagrams using AutoCAD.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal) for direct interface with customers.
• Working knowledge of power system control systems (SEL relay experience preferred).
• Experienced in the use of SKM modeling software to develop TCCs and analyze arc flash incident energy concerns for new equipment design.
• Electrical control system design as it relates to power system breaker and relay control.
• Strong writing ability for clear compilation of proposals, reports and other project documents.
• Ability to develop programming for SEL relays a plus. · Experience with protective device coordination.
• Strong project management abilities.

Security & Work Authorization Requirements:

• Ability to successfully pass required background checks and obtain any security clearance or airport access credentials required by the U. S. Department of Transportation, airport authorities, or other applicable agencies for access to airport facilities and sensitive information.
• Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and comply with any drug-testing requirements applicable to the position, airport facilities, and customer contracts.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• Employment and continued access to applicable facilities may be contingent upon successful completion of required background checks, drug screening, and maintenance of required security credentials.
