Job Description:
Junior-level design position performing work assignments involving independent judgment to determine a course of action consistent with established functional and organizational policies and goals. Proficient in design and able to utilize design tools effectively.
About the Role:
- Under Project Manager’s/Professional Engineer’s supervision, develops drawings and sketches such as civil & structural design drawings for proposed substation infrastructure.
- Ensures project deliverables for technical quality, accuracy and compliance with Company and Client standards.
- Prepares design sketches utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge for drawing/model preparation by lower-level Designers or CAD Technicians.
- Reviews and resolves design interferences or issues.
Qualifications:
- 0-4 years of progressively responsible relevant design experience.
- Associate's degree preferred.
- Familiar with basic engineering and/or design/drafting concepts.
- General understanding of other disciplines’ roles in the design process.
- Ability to complete tasks in accordance with project procedures and applicable codes and/or standards.
- Ability to discuss routine technical problems and communicate effectively with immediate supervisor and other project personnel.
- Ability to utilize advanced PC, 2D and 3D CAD and other applicable hardware and software to perform duties, particularly MicroStation or AutoCAD.
- Proficient in civil and structural design drawings and able to utilize design tools effectively as well as provide training and conduct simple checking as needed.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
