Job Title: Plant OperatorJob Description

This role is responsible for safely and efficiently operating plant equipment to ensure that all products meet established quality and quantity standards. The Plant Operator follows standard operating procedures and supervisory instructions, adjusts equipment and process settings, performs routine analytical testing, and maintains accurate documentation to support consistent and compliant production.

Responsibilities
  • Operate plant equipment safely and effectively in accordance with standard operating procedures and supervisory instructions.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure products meet defined quality and quantity standards.
  • Adjust equipment and process settings as needed to maintain proper operating conditions and adherence to SOPs.
  • Perform routine analytical testing to properly control and optimize the production process.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure safe operation and proper processing performance.
  • Run fermentation processes, making necessary adjustments to maintain desired conditions and outcomes.
  • Complete batch records accurately and thoroughly for each production run.
  • Perform sterilization procedures and ensure equipment and processes meet cleanliness and sterilization requirements.
  • Execute various production processes such as product granulation in line with established procedures.
  • Complete daily shift production logs and other required documentation neatly and accurately.
  • Use computer systems to enter data, review documentation, and support production activities.
  • Collaborate closely with a small shift team to coordinate tasks and maintain smooth production flow.
  • Follow all safety procedures and basic safety precautions when working with heavy machinery, forklifts, and in environments with dust, fumes, noise, and temperature variations.
  • Support general production activities as needed, including mechanical assembly and use of hand and power tools.
Essential Skills
  • Experience operating plant or manufacturing equipment in a production environment.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and supervisory instructions accurately.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, documentation, and production reporting.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience with machine operation and general production work.
  • Ability to perform routine analytical testing to monitor and control processes.
  • Attention to detail and strong documentation skills, including completing batch records and production logs neatly and accurately.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small, close-knit shift team.
  • Capability to safely operate or work around heavy machinery and forklifts.
  • Physical ability to lift, pull, carry, and pick up objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, food manufacturing, packaging, fermentation, biomedical, or similar regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with quality control practices and use of gauges and measurement tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical documentation.
  • Comfort working in environments with varying temperatures, dust, fumes, and moderate to loud noise levels.
  • Previous experience in bio-medical, pharmaceutical, or related manufacturing plants.
  • Prior exposure to process granulation and sterilization procedures.

Work Environment

This position is based in a bio-medical manufacturing plant that operates heavy machinery and specialized production equipment. You will work around varying temperatures, from cold to hot, and may be exposed to dust, fumes, and moderate to loud noise levels of approximately 85 decibels. The environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, requiring consistent adherence to safety procedures and basic safety precautions. You will work with and around heavy machinery, including driving or working near forklifts, and will regularly handle average to heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The role is on 2nd shift and involves close collaboration with a small team, working in a structured, process-driven setting that emphasizes quality, safety, and compliance.

This is a Permanent position based out of Bangor, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $49920.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
