Applications Engineer

Purpose: The purpose of the Applications Engineer role is to lead the preparation of product quotations, manage the introduction of new products into production, and support customer inquiries on existing products. The Applications Engineer will design products, fixturing, gauges, and tooling to ensure successful product launches. Additionally, the role provides technical support to customers and internal teams, including participation in trade shows and customer visits, to ensure products are effectively applied and supported in the marketplace.

Duties, Responsibilities, and Activities
Quoting & Project Management
• Prepare detailed product quotations, proposals, and cost estimates for customers.
• Manage new product introduction from initial tooling design through to full-scale production release.
• Track project timelines, deliverables, and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
• Document lessons learned and implement improvements for future launches.

Design & Technical
• Design and validate new products for customer applications.
• Develop product fixturing, gauges, and tooling to support manufacturing launches.
• Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation.
• Assist in troubleshooting design and process issues raised internally or by customers.

Customer Support & Collaboration
• Work directly with customers to provide technical support during product launches and existing product inquiries.
• Provide training and technical guidance to customers, sales teams, and internal staff on product functionality and applications.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, and Quality teams to ensure smooth handoff and production readiness.
• Participate in trade shows, customer visits, and technical demonstrations as needed to represent the company.

Education and Skills Required

• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., NX (Siemens NX / NX Ideas), SolidWorks, AutoCAD); experience with ERP systems a plus.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixturing.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Excellent technical communication skills for customer interactions and internal collaboration.
• Ability to conduct presentations, training sessions, and technical demonstrations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to travel for customer visits and trade shows.
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and methods.
• Must be pursuing a degree in Engineering or related field.
