A Shreveport structural steel manufacturing and fabrication facility is seeking an experienced Structural Steel Project Manager to oversee projects from estimating and approved drawings through fabrication, shipping, and completion.
This is primarily an in-house project management position supporting new construction projects. The Project Manager will coordinate estimating, materials, purchasing, production schedules, fabrication, shipping, and steel erection requirements to keep projects moving from blueprint to finished product.

Communicate with customers, contractors, and other project stakeholders as needed
Previous structural steel, steel fabrication, or steel erection experience required
Strong knowledge of the structural steel fabrication and erection process
Strong ability to read and interpret structural, fabrication, and erection drawings
Understanding of structural steel materials, connections, fabrication processes, and terminology
Understanding of how fabricated structural steel is sequenced, shipped, and erected in the field
Experience with project coordination or project management in structural steel fabrication, erection, manufacturing, or commercial construction
Estimating experience strongly preferred
Purchasing, procurement, or material planning experience preferred
Experience coordinating production schedules and project deadlines
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Previous ERP or manufacturing software experience preferred
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple active projects
The ideal candidate understands the complete structural steel processfrom construction drawings and estimating through detailing, procurement, fabrication, shipping, and erection.
This person should be able to look beyond simply getting steel through the shop and understand how fabrication decisions, production schedules, shipping sequence, and component organization affect the erection process once material reaches the job site.
This is primarily an in-house position at the Shreveport manufacturing facility, rather than a field superintendent or onsite erection position. However, previous experience working with structural steel erection is highly valuable because the Project Manager must understand how the material being fabricated will ultimately be assembled and installed in the field.
