LeadingEdge Personnel is seeking a skilled Hardshell Assembly Technician to support one of our Premier clients. The main objective of this position is the disassembly and reassembly of armored vehicles. This role involves removing and protecting vehicle components, installing interior finishes, reconnecting and testing electrical systems, and installing armored glass.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with automotive electrical systems and interior assembly, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining vehicle safety, appearance, and functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carefully remove, label, protect, and store vehicle components before the armoring process.
  • Reinstall and adjust interior components, including dashboard assemblies, door panels, consoles, carpeting, and seats.
  • Reinstall safety components, including airbags, seat belts, and related modules, according to applicable procedures.
  • Install and connect instrument panels, verifying the proper operation of electronic and control systems.
  • Reconnect and test wiring, lighting, power windows, controls, alarms, sensors, audio equipment, and other electrical components.
  • Install auxiliary electrical equipment, including winches, strobe lights, cameras, and display screens.
  • Inspect electrical systems and troubleshoot faults or disconnected components resulting from the armoring process.
  • Prepare, handle, bond, install, and seal armored glass and steel-frame assemblies to ensure proper fit and sealing.
  • Use specialized tools for vehicle disassembly, assembly, and electrical diagnostics.
  • Perform final cleaning and detailing before vehicle delivery.
  • Document completed work and report technical issues to the Production Supervisor.
  • Follow established safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical education or training in automotive electrical systems, electronics, mechatronics, or automotive maintenance.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in automotive electrical work and vehicle interior installation.
  • Knowledge of automotive wiring, fuses, relays, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams.
  • Experience using multimeters and diagnostic scanners to test and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Experience assembling automotive interiors and installing trim and finishes.
  • Familiarity with infotainment systems, sensors, alarms, and other electronic vehicle components.
  • Knowledge of structural adhesives and proper procedures for bonding and handling armored glass.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools, including drills, grinders, and bending equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on armored vehicles, recreational vehicles, or buses.
  • Experience installing security glass or armored glass.
