Job Title: CDL Class A Driver Tanker and Environmental Services

Job Description

This role is responsible for safely operating CDL Class A vehicles, including tanker trucks, vacuum trucks, roll-off trucks, and specialized equipment to support environmental remediation, hazardous waste transportation, industrial cleaning, and emergency spill response projects. You will work closely with environmental field crews to transport liquids, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, contaminated materials, and remediation equipment while consistently adhering to DOT, EPA, OSHA, and company safety standards. The position is ideal for an experienced commercial driver who is comfortable in industrial environments and committed to safety, environmental compliance, and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate CDL Class A vehicles, including tanker trucks, vacuum trucks, roll-off trucks, and trailers in industrial and field environments.
  • Transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials to approved treatment, storage, and disposal facilities in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Load, secure, transport, and unload liquid waste, sludge, contaminated water, chemicals, and industrial byproducts using appropriate procedures and equipment.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.
  • Operate pumps, hoses, valves, and vacuum systems during loading and unloading activities to ensure safe and efficient material handling.
  • Assist with equipment setup, mobilization, and demobilization for environmental remediation projects and field operations.
  • Support hazardous material spill response and cleanup activities as part of an emergency response team.
  • Assist environmental field technicians with decontamination, waste collection, and site cleanup operations at various project locations.
  • Perform industrial cleaning activities, including tank cleaning, pit cleaning, and wastewater removal, following safety and environmental procedures.
  • Transport remediation equipment, tools, and supplies to and from project sites as required.
  • Participate in emergency response activities that may require rapid deployment, extended hours, and travel.
  • Comply with all DOT, EPA, OSHA, and company safety policies, procedures, and best practices at all times.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, manifests, and transportation documentation in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
  • Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and transportation of hazardous materials to meet applicable regulations.
  • Follow all site-specific safety requirements and consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Immediately report incidents, spills, vehicle issues, and safety concerns to appropriate personnel.

Essential Skills

  • Valid CDL Class A license.
  • Tanker endorsement (N) required, authorizing operation of heavy combination vehicles designed to haul bulk liquids or gases in tanks with an individual or aggregate capacity of 119 gallons or more.
  • Minimum 3+ years of commercial driving experience.
  • Demonstrated experience operating commercial vehicles such as tanker trucks, vacuum trucks, and roll-off trucks in industrial or field environments.
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations and requirements for pre-trip and post-trip inspections, driver logs, and transportation documentation.
  • Ability to safely operate pumps, hoses, valves, vacuum systems, and related equipment during loading and unloading activities.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical
  • Ability to travel as needed and work overtime, weekends, and emergency response assignments.
  • Strong commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and customer service.
  • Ability to follow detailed safety procedures and site-specific requirements, including proper use of PPE.
  • Capability to work effectively as part of a field crew in industrial, environmental, and emergency response settings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certification (preferred).
  • HazMat endorsement (preferred).
  • Prior vacuum truck experience (preferred).
  • Industrial cleaning experience, including tank and pit cleaning (preferred).
  • Environmental remediation experience (preferred).
  • Confined space entry certification (preferred).
  • Experience supporting spill response and environmental cleanup activities.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and best practices related to hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling.

Work Environment

You must consistently follow DOT, EPA, OSHA, and site-specific safety requirements and wear appropriate PPE, which may include hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, protective clothing, and respiratory protection depending on the task and environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Greenville, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $83200.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
