Design the control systems behind real production facilities.
Cortex is a full-discipline engineering, procurement, and construction management firm serving food and beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and heavy industrial clients. We're looking for a Controls Engineer to design and deliver electrical controls and instrumentation packages, from the drawing board to the plant floor.
What you'll do
- Design control panels, electrical schematics, and networking details in AutoCAD
- Develop, test, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programming
- Research and analyze client requests, then help shape the right solution
- Work alongside our electrical and mechanical engineers to design integrated systems
- Take part in project planning, cost development, and scheduling
- Talk directly with clients, vendors, and stakeholders
- Troubleshoot electrical systems in the field, including on-site time in client facilities
What you bring
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering (or a related field)
- 2+ years of experience in controls or instrumentation design
- Working knowledge of PLC, HMI, and DCS system design
- Understanding of control system networking and process control instrumentation
- Ability to read and critically evaluate drawings, schematics, and system designs
- Strong communication skills, since you'll work closely with both teammates and clients
- Comfort managing tight deadlines without sacrificing quality
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam
Nice to have
- Experience in a factory or manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with GMP environments
