Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician Supervisor oversees maintenance operations in a nickel plating facility that supports aerospace and defense applications. This role leads a small maintenance team, plans and executes capital projects, and ensures all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems operate safely and reliably. The position requires strong hands-on technical skills, the ability to fabricate and modify equipment, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-functioning facility.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, drive, and execute capital projects to support facility improvements and equipment upgrades.
  • Provide daily leadership, direction, and support to one other maintenance technician, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to minimize downtime and maintain reliable operations.
  • Monitor equipment, parts, and supply inventories, and coordinate replenishment to ensure maintenance readiness.
  • Maintain the integrity of the building and grounds, addressing structural, facility, and infrastructure needs.
  • Fabricate, modify, and construct new equipment, fixtures, and work areas to meet evolving production and facility requirements.
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed for equipment repair and new installations.
  • Support and maintain steam equipment, boilers, pump controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, and related systems.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment documentation to complete installations and repairs.
  • Use mathematics and general engineering techniques to design, fabricate, construct, and modify equipment and systems.
  • Operate and maintain electric ovens, diaphragm pumps, centrifugal pumps, and other process-related equipment.

Essential Skills

  • Extensive hands-on experience in facilities maintenance, with the ability to independently perform all core maintenance duties.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills across a variety of equipment and systems.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience working with 3-phase power.
  • Experience with plumbing systems, including work with CPVC tanks and related piping.
  • Boiler experience, including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of steam equipment and boiler systems.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Experience with HVAC systems, including diagnosis and repair.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate projects, including capital projects and maintenance initiatives.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and technical literature.
  • Ability to use mathematics and general engineering techniques to design, fabricate, and modify equipment.
  • Working knowledge of electric ovens, diaphragm pumps, and centrifugal pumps.
  • Proficiency in welding and fabrication, including use of welders and torches.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a plating or similar industrial facility is beneficial.
  • Background supporting process equipment in environments with mechanical and chemical pretreatment operations is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor other technicians in a maintenance setting.
  • Comfort working around industrial chemicals and process tanks.
  • Attention to detail and a strong focus on safety and compliance.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a nickel plating facility that operates as a passthrough operation, focusing on nickel plating products rather than traditional manufacturing. The position follows a first-shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
