Location: Orange, CA
Job Type: Contract
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night | 9:30 PM–7:30 AM
Schedule: 4x10 hours | Variable Days
Local Candidates Required: Yes within 50 miles
Traveler Candidates Required: Yes Experienced Travelers Only

Pay Rate
Local: $2,025 - $2,137/week
Traveler: $2,405 - $2,505/week

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Blood Bank Clinical Laboratory Scientist to independently perform high-volume Blood Bank and Transfusion Services testing in an acute-care hospital setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Clinical Laboratory experience.

  • Seasoned Blood Bank travel experience required.

  • Recent/current Blood Bank experience within the last 2 years.

  • Epic experience required.

  • Blood Bank software experience required.

  • ASCP-BB certification required.

  • Level I Trauma experience required.

  • Experience in a hospital with 300+ beds.

  • Recent high-volume Blood Bank experience, approximately 30–50 samples per day.

  • Strong experience with type & screen and crossmatch.

  • Ability to work independently on the night shift.

  • First-time travelers not accepted.

  • No on-call requirement.

  • No floating requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Teaching hospital experience.

  • Well Sky and/or Immucor instrumentation experience.

  • Clinical Immunohematology Scientist certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Blood Bank and Transfusion Services testing in a high-volume acute-care hospital.

  • Independently perform testing and laboratory procedures during the night shift.

  • Process type & screen, crossmatch, and other Blood Bank testing.

  • Operate Blood Bank software and laboratory instrumentation.

  • Review and document laboratory results accurately.

  • Maintain compliance with laboratory, transfusion, and patient-safety standards.

  • Communicate effectively with clinical and laboratory teams.

  • Follow hospital, laboratory, and regulatory policies and procedures.

  • Support timely and accurate Blood Bank services.
