Description:
Taylor House, A ThriveMore of NC Community is currently seeking a part-timeHousekeeper and Cook, to assist in our Assisted Living Community located in Albemarle, NC. This person will be crossed trained and utilized primarily in Housekeeping.
Schedule:
- Housekeeping- Monday through Friday, 8 hour shifts, 7am-3pm, with weekend rotations
- Cook- 12 hour shifts, 6:30am- 7pm, variable schedule
- Weekend availability is required
Housekeeping Responsibilities:
- Clean all bathrooms, including counters, mirrors, sinks, lavatories and fixtures in apartment and common areas
- Vacuum carpeted areas and mop tile floors
- Spot clean walls and windows
- Dust furniture and empty trash cans
- Clean baseboards, pictures, lights and HVAC Vents
- Honor any additional housekeeping request made by the residents during the allotted time
- Assist with picking up trash
- Assist with activity room set-ups, will require movement of furniture
- Report any pertinent information to management directly related to the well-being of the resident
- Perform any additional housekeeping tasks as necessary
Cook Responsibilities:
- Review menu, assembles food supplies and equipment for daily food production following instructions and assignment by lead cook or supervisor.
- Follows recipe and other production information to complete preparation of assigned menu items.
- Reads menu to determine food requirements and procedures food from storage.
- Adjusts thermostat controls to regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, and steam kettles.
- Bakes, roasts, broils and steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
- Observes and tests food being cooked by tasting, smelling, and piercing with fork to determine that it is cooked according to standard recipe.
Physical Demands
- Always required to stand and walk throughout the shift.
- Frequently required to perform repetitive motions such as mopping, wiping, or vacuuming.
- Frequently required to bend, stoop, twist, squat, and reach at, above, and below shoulder level.
- Frequently required to lift or carry items up to 10 pounds.
- Frequently required to push/pull housekeeping carts or equipment up to 85 pounds.
- Occasionally required to lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally required to kneel or climb stairs.
- Visual and auditory acuity needed to identify cleaning needs, read labels, distinguish colors, and communicate in environments with background noise.
- Manual dexterity and coordination to operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning tools safely.

Work Environment
- Always works indoors in resident rooms, common areas, offices, and utility spaces.
- Frequently exposed to cleaning chemicals, dust, and wet surfaces; PPE provided as needed.
- Occasionally exposed to odors, biohazard waste, and soiled linens.
- Occasionally works in noisy environments due to housekeeping equipment or facility operations.
- Occasionally works outdoors for trash removal, landscaping support, or entryway cleaning.
- Works in environments where residents and staff may be present; interact courteously and professionally.
Requirements:
Qualification Requirements
- At least one year of housekeeping experience, required.
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Must be able to speak and understand English in order to communicate with supervisors and residents.
- Prior experience as cook or in food preparation.
- Ability to read and follow recipes and food production records.
- Must be 18 years of age or above.
- Must be able to use the English language to satisfy the communications and record keeping requirements involved in the performance of this job position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must maintain neat, well-groomed appearance adhering to dress code of the facility,
- Must satisfy all established licensing and certification requirements applicable to this job position.
- Must be able to safely perform all essential job functions without harm to self or others with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must comply with facility’s drug testing and substance abuse program and policies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation practices, and safe use of housekeeping equipment and supplies.
