Associate Attorney

Are you an experienced criminal defense attorney based in Salem or Corvallis Oregon (or surrounding areas), who can provide quality legal work and who is excited to help us take great care of our clients - good people who face Oregon DUI charges? To be our ideal candidate, you are able to work effectively and compassionately on your own caseload, with a dedicated legal assistant and support from other attorneys. You are confident, but not egotistical; level-headed, professional, good natured, and don't take yourself too seriously. You work hard and are able to face a challenge while remaining upbeat.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Responsible for a caseload of no more than 30 clients who face DUI and related criminal charges
• Interpret law for clients, help them understand their legal options, and develop case strategies
• Conduct legal research, draft motions, and present arguments to the court
• Represent clients at arraignments, hearings, and trials
• Participate in trainings to stay current in the DUI legal field

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
• Licensed and in good standing of the Oregon State Bar
• 2-5+ years’ experience in criminal defense; DUII defense, felony cases and trial experience preferred
• Excellent working knowledge of Oregon’s criminal code, case law, DMV license consequences for criminal and non-criminal actions
• Experience and working knowledge of at least one metro-area circuit court. Practice in Marion, Benton, Linn, and/or Lane counties preferred
• Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred
