About the Company

Our client is an established organization seeking an experienced Claims Adjuster to join its Claims department on a temporary basis while a team member is out on leave. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a background in marine, commercial, property, or other non-automotive insurance claims who can independently manage claims while maintaining accurate documentation and providing excellent service.

Job Description

The Claims Adjuster will be responsible for managing claims throughout the claims lifecycle, including investigating incidents, reviewing documentation, evaluating coverage and liability, maintaining accurate claim records, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate has previous claims adjusting experience, strong analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple claims independently in a fast-paced environment. Marine claims experience is preferred, but candidates with transferable experience in other non-automotive insurance lines will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate, evaluate, and process assigned insurance claims from initial reporting through resolution.
  • Review insurance policies, claim documentation, incident reports, and supporting materials to determine coverage and liability.
  • Communicate with insureds, claimants, vendors, and other relevant parties to gather information and provide claim updates.
  • Evaluate damages, review supporting documentation, and assist in determining appropriate claim settlements.
  • Maintain accurate and complete claim files, including investigation findings, correspondence, financial information, and settlement documentation.
  • Manage multiple claims simultaneously while meeting established deadlines and service expectations.
  • Identify discrepancies, request additional documentation, and resolve outstanding claim issues.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders throughout the claims process.
  • Ensure claims are handled in accordance with applicable regulations, company procedures, and insurance policy requirements.
  • Maintain accurate information across multiple claims management systems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous experience as a Claims Adjuster, Claims Examiner, or in a comparable claims-handling position.
  • Active Claims Adjuster license required.
  • Experience handling marine, commercial, property, cargo, or other non-automotive insurance claims preferred.
  • Knowledge of claims investigation, coverage evaluation, liability assessment, and settlement procedures.
  • Strong documentation, data entry, and file management skills.
  • Comfortable working across multiple claims management systems and databases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to independently manage a claims caseload and prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Must be comfortable working fully onsite, Monday through Friday.

Additional Details

This is a temporary assignment expected to last approximately 4–5 months, covering a maternity leave. Candidates must be available to work onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The interview process will consist of one virtual interview with the Director of Claims. A background check and drug screen are required before starting.
