POSITION SUMMARY:

  • MJ Engineering is seeking a fulltime Experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the growth and expansion of our business. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and development of Client mechanical systems across our business; ranging from custom industrial automation equipment to amusement attractions, mining equipment, lifting devices, and more. This person must be a self-motivated professional who is personally aligned with the Company's values, mission and brand. This position will be supported with training, management, and coaching for the individual's overall professional success


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Development of mechanical designs to meet function, performance, safety, and cost requirements
  • Engineering analysis and calculations to defend and justify mechanical design decisions through finite element modeling, structural modeling, classical mechanical calculations, kinematic calculations, etc.
  • Documentation of engineering; drawings, specifications, bills of material, manuals, and other technical documentation necessary to effectively communicate designs to others
  • Engineering review and design verification of existing and proposed designs
  • Investigate and troubleshoot equipment to address wear, corrosion, equipment failures, operational problems, and other mechanical issues
  • Understand and manage compliance of designs to relevant regulatory standards and codes
  • Field engineering and site support by performing field inspections, measurements, and installation and commissioning support
  • Engineering testing and validation; design tests to confirm functionality, performance, or compliance of devices with specifications
  • Risk management of mechanical designs and projects
  • Other duties as assigned


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
The successful candidate for this position will have, at minimum, the following skills, experience, and characteristics:

  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD (or similar 2D & 3D CAD packages)
  • Experience with classical mechanical calculations, finite-element modeling
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering team members
  • Capability to critically assess own work for successes and failures


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar fields such as Aerospace, Ocean, Civil, Welding engineering, etc.)
  • A minimum of 3-4 years relevant work experience or advanced study in mechanical engineering


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience/interest in pursuit of mechanical professional engineering
  • Experience with mechanical standards including: Machinery's Handbook, Steel/Aluminum/Stainless Steel construction standards, ASTM Standards, etc.
  • Experience with machine design and industrial robotics (FANUC, KUKA, OMRON, etc.)
  • Certifications/training in any of the following are encouraged:
  • SolidWorks (CSWA, CSWP, CSWE)
  • Project Management (PMP, CAPM or other)
  • Public speaking, technical writing, or client relationship training
  • EIT/FE or PE certification

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This position will have up to 5% travel outside of Ohio, with additional day trips up to 20%
  • The person hired must have the ability to sit/stand at a desk and work on a computer an average of 70% of the time, and the ability to stand, kneel, bend, and move upright on average
