Job Summary
The Deck Construction Project Manager leads residential and commercial deck projects from preconstruction through final inspection and closeout. This role coordinates clients, procurement, permitting, engineering, subcontractors, and field crews to keep each project safe, on schedule, within budget, and aligned with company quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership:Lead residential and commercial deck projects from preconstruction planning through final completion, coordinating office staff, clients, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and field crews throughout each phase.
- Schedule & Budget Control:Build and manage project schedules, budgets, cash flow, change orders, and progress updates while accounting for mountain weather, site conditions, material lead times, and approved scope changes.
- Site Supervision:Oversee daily jobsite activity, coordinate subcontractors, field crews, materials, and equipment, maintain daily logs, schedule inspections, resolve field issues, and keep work progressing according to the project schedule.
- Safety, Code & Quality:Maintain safe jobsites, enforce applicable safety requirements and local building codes, and verify that footings, framing, decking, stairs, guards, railings, and finishes meet approved plans and company quality standards.
- Documentation & Communication:Maintain organized contracts, change orders, estimates, budgets, schedules, daily reports, inspection records, and closeout documents. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and the internal team, providing timely updates on progress, decisions, schedule changes, and project risks.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education:A degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:At least three years of construction experience that includes project management and field supervision; experience managing deck, exterior carpentry, or comparable structural construction projects is preferred.
- Construction Knowledge:Strong working knowledge of estimating, scheduling, cost control, subcontractor coordination, construction plans and specifications, permitting, inspections, and jobsite safety. Familiarity with deck framing, footings, stairs, guards, railings, wood and composite decking systems, and applicable residential and commercial building-code requirements is preferred.
- Local Experience:Experience with mountain construction is preferred, including planning for weather impacts, restricted site access, rock excavation, steep slopes, and seasonal scheduling constraints.
- Software Skills:Comfortable with construction management, estimating, and scheduling software, as well as Microsoft Office tools. Experience with JobTread, CompanyCam, or similar platforms is helpful.
- Communication:Clear, professional communication with clients, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and internal team members.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary:$65,000–$75,000 per year based on experience and education.
- Bonus:Eligible for quarterly and annual performance-based bonus tied to individual and company results.
