American Workforce Group has partnered with an industry-leading sustainable wood pellet manufacturing facility in Columbia City, OR to hire a full-time, front-line Manufacturing Shift Supervisor. Working side-by-side with your assigned operations crew on a predictable 12-hour night schedule (enjoying 3 to 4 days off every week!), you will serve as the coach, safety champion, and operational anchor for your shift. If you bring 3–5 years of front-line manufacturing leadership, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to inspire a crew to hit quality and production goals, let's put your leadership skills to work!

Description for Manufacturing Shift Supervisor:
  • Serve as the primary coach, leader, and operational manager for the assigned shift production crew, setting high standards for safety, 5S housekeeping, product quality, and throughput.
  • Champion the plant safety culture at the crew level, conducting daily safety huddles, enforcing PPE compliance, and ensuring a secure operating environment across all buildings.
  • Oversee and optimize full plant operations, including the green in-feed system, industrial dryer system, dry hammer mills, kiln drying systems, and automated pellet mills.
  • Monitor shift production metrics, analyze downtime logs, track operator reports, and lead root-cause troubleshooting when quality tests fall outside tight tolerances.
  • Administer team training, employee onboarding, and ongoing personal development programs to build bench strength across all operating stations.
  • Maintain cross-training qualification across all production stations to provide emergency relief coverage for crew absences, vacations, and peak volume demands.
  • Foster open, two-way communication between floor operators, maintenance mechanics, quality teams, and the Plant Production Manager.
  • Lead continuous improvement (CI) initiatives aimed at eliminating process bottlenecks, reducing waste, and boosting overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

  • Pay Rate:$27.00 – $29.00 / hour (DOE) + Built-in Weekly Overtime Pay!
  • Shift Options (12-Hour Schedules with Built-in OT):
  • Rotation A: Wednesday – Saturday | 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM (w/ OT)
  • Rotation B: Sunday – Wednesday | 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM (w/ OT)
  • Training Period: Comprehensive initial operations and leadership training conducted on Day Shift before moving to your permanent night rotation.
  • Work-Life Balance: Work consistent 12-hour shifts and enjoy 3 to 4 consecutive days OFF every single week!
  • Location: Columbia City, OR manufacturing facility (convenient commute from Cowlitz and Columbia Counties).

Requirements for Manufacturing Shift Supervisor:
  • Leadership Background: 3–5 years of proven supervisory or lead experience, preferably in a fast-paced 24/7 industrial manufacturing or processing plant.
  • Industry Knowledge: Direct experience in wood products, pellet manufacturing, milling, or continuous process industries is strongly preferred.
  • Process Troubleshooting: Demonstrated mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot automated processing machinery, airflow/dryers, and material handling systems.
  • Coaching & Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to motivate, mentor, hold team members accountable, and resolve conflict constructively.
  • Data & Tech Literacy: Competent maintaining digital shift production records, downtime logs, and basic inventory tracking.
  • Physical Capabilities: Ability to walk and stand 80% of the shift traversing between buildings, navigate stairs/ladders, stoop/crawl for inspections, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly in indoor/outdoor weather conditions.
