Job Title: Electrical Test EngineerJob Description

The Electrical Test Engineer oversees the electrical laboratory operations and team while developing, maintaining, and improving test equipment, procedures, and specifications. This role ensures that all electrical testing meets functional specifications and customer requirements, provides technical support across multiple departments, and plays a key part in maintaining high product quality and continuous improvement within a growing manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and eventually manage the electrical lab team, mentoring and motivating team members to ensure individual and group productivity.
  • Ensure all lab personnel receive appropriate training on test equipment, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Direct electrical testing activities to ensure they conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Determine methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products, ensuring accuracy and repeatability.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair of electrical test equipment and related systems to minimize downtime.
  • Operate computer software programs and test equipment to perform engineering tasks and support lab operations.
  • Establish test methods, specifications, and equipment requirements, and write procedures for electrical testing of parts.
  • Analyze and interpret test data and prepare clear, detailed reports for use by Quality, R&D, Engineering, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and qualify new materials and purchased products, providing technical feedback and recommendations.
  • Specify and perform tests required to gather technical data, including curves and information for catalogs, engineering kits, and bulletins.
  • Provide technical support to Production, Engineering, Sales and Marketing, Quality, and R&D on electrical testing and product performance.
  • Oversee electrical testing of powder release toroids and shield beads to ensure product consistency and quality.
  • Approve testing equipment, conditions, and procedures to ensure the highest quality powder is used in production and the best quality product is manufactured.
  • Oversee automated data acquisition for all electrical testing to ensure accurate and reliable data collection.
  • Manage maintenance of specifications, programs, dimensions, and other parameters in the data acquisition system for both dimensional and electrical testing.
  • Evaluate problem parts and make recommendations for product disposition based on test results and analysis.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations for team members within the electrical lab.
  • Participate in interviews and selection processes for vacant positions within the assigned department.
  • Address employee concerns within the department and escalate unresolved issues to appropriate leadership or human resources when necessary.
  • Follow all relevant quality and environmental standards to which the organization is certified.
  • Adhere to all OSHA standards and applicable safety and health policies while promoting a safe working environment.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Strong technical aptitude and knowledge of electrical and electronics principles and applications.
  • Proficiency in electrical and electronics testing, including hands-on work with test setups and instrumentation.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop team members.
  • Experience using LabVIEW for test automation, data acquisition, or related engineering tasks.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical test equipment, including LCR meters, Q-meters, impedance analyzers, oscilloscopes, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Competence in using personal computers and common software such as Windows, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to operate CMS/EMS systems effectively for data and process management.
  • Strong mathematical skills to support analysis, calculations, and test design.
  • Experience with SPC (Statistical Process Control), DOE (Design of Experiments), and capability analysis.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • High level of accuracy and thoroughness in testing, documentation, and reporting.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and blueprints to support test design and troubleshooting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment with exposure to quality and environmental standards.
  • Familiarity with automated data acquisition systems for both dimensional and electrical testing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate nonconforming parts and recommend appropriate disposition.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Production, Engineering, Sales and Marketing, Quality, and R&D.
  • Comfort with mentoring and conducting performance evaluations within a technical team.
  • Ability to participate in interviewing and selection of technical staff.
  • Knowledge of impedance measurement techniques and mechanical measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Experience with programming or configuration of test equipment and data acquisition software.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining test specifications, programs, and documentation.
Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing facility with over 100 employees and an engineering team of approximately 10 engineers. The environment is collaborative and technically focused, with direct interaction between the electrical lab and production, quality, R&D, and other departments. The organization operates primarily on a first-shift schedule, and this role is typically Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility to adjust to an 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. schedule, including a 30-minute to 1-hour lunch break. The role involves regular use of electrical and mechanical test equipment such as LCR meters, Q-meters, impedance analyzers, oscilloscopes, calipers, and micrometers, as well as PC-based tools including Windows, Excel, Word, LabVIEW, and CMS/EMS systems. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $93000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
