Job Title: MillwrightJob Description

This role focuses on installing, repairing, troubleshooting, and relocating a wide range of industrial machinery and equipment in a heavy steel mill environment. The millwright works with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems, using a variety of hand and power tools, precision instruments, and mobile equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant assets.

Responsibilities
  • Repair, troubleshoot, install, and move machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Read and interpret repair documents, manuals, blueprints, and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and plan tasks.
  • Dismantle machines using manual, hydraulic, pneumatic, and precision tools of the trade in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Assemble and install equipment such as shafting, bearings, conveyors, and tram rails using appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Construct foundations for machines using hand tools and building materials including wood, cement, and steel.
  • Align machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, plumb bobs, and other precision alignment tools.
  • Assemble machines and securely fasten them to foundations or other structures by bolting, welding, riveting, or other approved methods.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on overhead, mobile, rail, and track cranes to maintain safe and reliable operation.
  • Repair mobile equipment including rail, rubber-tire, and track-driven machinery.
  • Perform arc welding and fabrication tasks as required for equipment installation, modification, and repair.
  • Carry out track work and back-up roll bearing maintenance and repair using the maintenance management system to document activities.
  • Use fabrication and fitting skills to work with structural steel and other materials according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Apply knowledge of hydraulics, mechanical systems, electrical components, and pneumatics when diagnosing and repairing equipment.
  • Operate mobile and bridge cranes and forklifts safely to move materials and equipment within the facility.
  • Use cutting torches, welding equipment, air impact and electric wrenches, and pipe fitting tools to perform maintenance and installation work.
  • Follow Lean principles and Standard Operating Procedures while completing maintenance and installation tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members in a highly team-oriented environment to coordinate repairs and minimize equipment downtime.
Essential Skills
  • Journeyman-level millwright experience or equivalent practical experience in heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic drawings for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in setting up, tearing down, and rebuilding a wide range of machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to operate mobile and bridge cranes safely and effectively.
  • Ability to operate forklifts for material and equipment handling.
  • Skilled in arc welding and fabrication, including work with structural steel.
  • Experience with MIG and GMAW welding processes and related weld positions such as 3G and 6G.
  • Proficiency in using all sizes of air impact and electric wrenches, pipe fitting tools and equipment, sockets and ratchets, and hoists (electric and manual).
  • Ability to use cutting torches and welding equipment for maintenance and fabrication work.
  • Hands-on experience with hydraulics, mechanical systems, electrical components, and pneumatics.
  • Capability to perform track work and back-up roll bearing maintenance and repair while using a maintenance management system.
  • Comfort working in a very physical, heavy industrial steel mill environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with structural steel fabrication and fitting based on blueprints.
  • Familiarity with Lean principles and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Strong work ethic with a positive attitude, motivation, and drive.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, non-union environment.
  • Attention to detail when using precision tools such as micrometers, squares, rules, and plumb bobs for alignment tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely use hoists, dollies, rollers, and lift trucks for moving heavy machinery.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $87360.00 - $100000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
