Job Summary

Mallard Manufacturing, a MacLean-Fogg Company, is hiring a Saw Machine Operator for its Sterling, Illinois manufacturing facility. In this role, you will independently operate assigned production equipment, inspect parts for quality, and perform basic troubleshooting and adjustments to support safe, consistent production.

  • Location: Sterling, IL

  • Work Arrangement: On-site

  • Schedule: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM-2:30 PM

  • Pay: $18.80-$20.10/hour

  • Employment Type: Full-time / Hourly

  • Overtime: Overtime may be required based on business needs.

What You'll Do as a Saw Machine Operator
  • Operate assigned production equipment independently for standard production runs while supporting safe, steady production flow.

  • Inspect produced items for quality and complete first-piece and in-process inspections as needed.

  • Use measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers to verify specifications.

  • Perform basic troubleshooting for equipment stoppages, jams, or misfeeds and make minor adjustments as appropriate.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and work orders when applicable.

  • Accurately complete required production logs, quality reports, and related documentation.

  • Follow safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures while assisting with minor setups, adjustments, preventive maintenance, machine cleanliness, and daily equipment care.

What You'll BringRequired Qualifications
  • No formal education credential required.

  • 6+ months of prior machine operator experience.

  • Understanding of standard measurement tools.

  • Basic math, reading, and communication skills.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • This role involves standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods, including shifts of up to 12 hours.

  • Employees in this role regularly lift, carry, push, or pull 35-50 lbs.

  • The position requires manual dexterity to handle tools, materials, and small parts.

  • Visual acuity is required for monitoring gauges and performing basic inspection tasks.

  • The manufacturing environment may include noise, vibration, dust, oil, and temperature variations.

  • Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn.
